The trouble is that you tell a lot of stories where people achieve something worthwhile despite hardship, then people start thinking you need to experience hardship to achieve anything worthwhile.

After 2 weeks of struggling and a lot of googling, I can now be found on XMPP at Ace@novasatus.org as a replacement for discord. If you want to use XMPP then you should install Dino on desktop, Conversations on Android (doing it through F-Droid is the best cause it’s free, like 3 bucks through the play store), and Monal on IOS (I don’t use iPhone so I can’t vouch for the quality, but it’s on the app store and it’s apparently the best). Calls aren’t set up quite yet but I’m gonna fix that when I get home for the day.

If you just want to register on a public server, I would recommend movim.eu since it seems to be one of the bigger players in XMPP messaging. I still recommend your own server but with the hell I went through these past 2 weeks I’m not gonna blame you for wanting a simple experience.

And if any of the Moots want to use my server, I guess they could dm me and I could set up an account for them, provided they give me the username and password they want.

From the February 12, 2026 opinion piece:

Is Dark Woke good? … I was socialized in the crucible of millennial progressivism. I have long believed that it is unkind to make fun of someone for their weight, that I should prune the slurs out of my lexicon…. Dark Woke asks us to make special exceptions for the aberrant forces in our midst—to bully insecurities, to express our anger viscerally—because their sins are great enough to eclipse the worst things any of us can say about them. After all, it is difficult to conflate language with violence when the violence itself has become so plainly visible. It remains to be seen if Dark Woke can grow potent enough to outweigh the sun-blotting forces of Dark MAGA, or if fickle centrists find all of this liberal rage more alienating than relatable. But I—and millions of other Americans—do know what it feels like to be alive in 2026. I never want to go high ever again.

Moscow restricts Telegram as it pushes rival state-backed messaging app

Moscow Restricts Telegram as It Pushes Rival State-Backed Messaging App
Published on February 10, 2026 — In a significant escalation of its digital sovereignty campaign, Russia has begun throttling access to the globally popular messaging platform Telegram. The move, announced by the state internet watchdog Roskomnadzor, is explicitly tied to Telegram’s failure to comply with stringent Russian…

So Discord has active plans to start rolling out global age verifying next month - Discord, the site that, quite famously, trusted the wrong 3rd party site and leaked some 70k peoples government IDs because they didn’t delete them like they promised; and that was just the people who had to fill out and verify for OTHER countries, iirc.

They’re going to be using another third party verification step as well as AI verified video selfies - that are not only unfair to certain groups of color but are also generally inaccurate to try and age regulate Discord.

Unfortunately but quite seriously, most “age verifications” these days are done to track what is supposed to be peoples private browsing, and though Discord says they’re trying to make a safer space for kids/teens since they’re the “biggest user base,” according to themselves, they aren’t actually doing anything to protect the kids besides… Punishing everybody else.

I draw my line at using a third-party anything to look at my ID both without the guarantee that it is an official government office and that it will be immediately deleted, especially because I personally have been falsely flagged by AI age “verification” before and know I’ll have to use the ID step. I hope you guys also stand by that, and send a complaint or something to discord support to hopefully lessen the impact of the rollout (however unlikely that may be) and also consider leaving Discord in the face of this new implementation.

I hate we live in such a “instant connected world”. You know?

Rant below 😓😠😖🙃

I get a message and jump straight on it, have to reply straight away or I’ll get anxious they think I’m ignoring them but if it’s the other way around I don’t an eye. Mostly. I’ve had my ups and downs with it. My friend for example might message everyday but then have a few days break. Which is fine, she’s busy, got her kids etc. if it was my parents I’d worry but also understand they might be on a walk etc. Back when I was seeing that guy I got anxious about the one text a day thing. So it depends but I can’t put myself on the other side.

I hate the expectation of “because we are always on our phones or have them to hand you have to reply straight away” well I think of it. Others might say fuck that.

Sometimes I wish it was still the 90s/00s were texting costs so you would limit yourself or just online MSN and you could log off if you didn’t want to talk. Or a phone call and that was enough.

My parents called each other every other day and that was enough. Like I did say to this guy I’m not on my phone much (white lie, sort of. I could go hours without looking at my phone) coz he apologised for the late reply because he’s working. Yeah if I wasn’t WFH and in an office and heck at my old old job on the phones where personal phones were banned, I’d only text at lunch and then in the evening.

Sorry I should be ranting to my diary not here but it’s the same thing. Trying to tell myself that it’s okay. Rationalize my thoughts are understandable. I can’t help my anxiety.

Like I hate how much phones are like an extension of our hands.

I’m trying to just eat dinner, do some cross stitch but I have that fucking worm in the back of my head going “text him back or he’ll hate you” non stop. It’s depressing.

Winning votes is about creating a narrative that supports a vote for you and/or discourages a vote for your opponent. In 2026, many voters—especially young voters and working-class voters—get their narratives from social media. Democrats have increasingly ceded this space to MAGA, and algorithms used by these apps tend to lead people to more and more extreme content, where racist, sexist, and homophobic/transphobic messages can be spread out of view of the mainstream media and most voters. THIS is the work of the Democratic Party in the 21st Century, not trying to figure out how much of its coalition it should abandon to try to win elections.

Let’s Examine Bitchat, the Bluetooth Messaging App by Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey

In mid 2025, Jack Dorsey quietly launched Bitchat, a Bluetooth messaging app that is seemingly poised to redefine instant messaging. What makes it so unique is that, unlike traditional messaging apps, Bitchat doesn’t require the internet to function; a feature increasingly relevant in countries that experience constant internet shutdowns and digital censorship.

What Is Bitchat?

Bitchat is a…

That’s the Babel myth, which leads to people being cut off from one another. We never truly communicate because, from one person to another, gestures and words don’t carry the same meaning. We might have the illusion of communicating when we fall in love and believe that the other person feels the same as we do, but after a while, reality sets in. The only areas where one can truly be in sync with another person are through sex and music. Of course, even in those areas there can be deception, but the intensity of the connection surpasses anything that can be conveyed through verbal communication, where every word is a potential source of misunderstanding.

Democrats advised to not center midterm campaigns on attacking Donald Trump

From the January 7, 2026 article:

While Trump’s approval ratings are low and Americans have been frustrated by his job performance in the first year of his second term, the strategists say the key to winning is to home in on economic issues — particularly affordability.

“You can’t ignore Trump because it’s his economy. But the top message is the economy and affordability,” one source familiar with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) plans for the midterms said.

How Much of Political Messaging Relies on Public Bias?

This post is a response to a question posed in its complete format: “Are politics and marketing highly dependent upon, and structured around, the inability of the masses to think logically, act responsibly, and go beyond surface thought; especially go beyond surface thought?”

“All Publicity Works Upon Anxiety.”

John Berger’s “Ways of Seeing” was an excellent introduction to my young mind as an…
