Woven by His Word: Finding Your Purpose in the Master’s Plan

The realization that the Almighty God personally spoke you into existence is the most humbling truth a soul can carry. You are not a product of chance, nor a mere bystander in the universe; you are a deliberate act of Divine will. Before the world was formed, the Lord had already envisioned your life and penned your days in His book.

Created by His Hand

The King James Bible captures this…

The Two Commandments That Change Everything

One day, a religious expert approached Jesus with a question designed to test Him:

“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

It sounded like a straightforward question, but in reality it was loaded. The Jewish teachers of the time had identified 613 commandments in the Torah. People debated endlessly about which ones carried the most weight, which were lightest,…

Origen’s “On First Principles” (Book II, Ch. 4.2)

Gary Pollard

[This is a continuing translation of Origen’s systematic theology in modern language]

It would take too long to gather every passage in the Gospels showing that the God of the Law and the God of the Gospel are one and the same. We’ll briefly look at the Acts of the Apostles. There, Stephen and the other apostles prayed to the God who made the sky and earth, who spoke through the…

Words and commandments of God and Jesus

These are not the words and commandments, but what is written about them.

Matt 7:24-27 [WEB]
“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. 25 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

Matt 15:3
He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

Matt 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Mark 7:7-9
7 But they worship me in vain,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 “For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things.” 9 He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

Mark 7:13
making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this.”

Mark 8:38
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in his Father’s glory, with the holy angels.”

Mark 13:31
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Luke 4:4
Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”

Luke 4:22
All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

Luke 4:32
and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.

Luke 6:47-49
47 Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who hears, and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

Luke 8:11-15
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the road are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation. 14 That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

Luke 8:21
But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it.”

Luke 9:26
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

Luke 11:28
But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

Luke 21:33
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

Luke 24:19
He said to them, “What things?”
They said to him, “The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people;

John 3:34
For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

John 5:24
“Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 5:38
You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.

John 6:63
It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

John 6:68
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

John 8:31, 32
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 8:47
He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”

John 8:51
Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”

John 8:55
You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him and keep his word.

John 12:48-50
48 He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him in the last day. 49 For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”

John 14:10
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.

John 14:15-17
If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, * that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

John 14:21
One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”

John 14:23
Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

John 14:24
He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

John 15:3
You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

John 15:7
If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

John 15:10
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

John 15:14
You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.

John 15:20
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

John 17:6
I revealed your name to the people whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me. They have kept your word.

John 17:8
for the words which you have given me I have given to them, and they received them, and knew for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.

John 17:14
I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

John 17:17
Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth.

John 17:20
Not for these only do I pray, but for those also who will believe in me through their word,

Rev 3:8
“I know your works (behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut), that you have a little power, and kept my word, and didn’t deny my name.

Rev 3:10
Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Rev 6:9
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.

Rev 12:17
The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep God’s commandments and hold Jesus’ testimony.

Rev 14:12
Here is the perseverance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

Rev 19:9
He said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.’ ” He said to me, “These are true words of God.”

Rev 20:4
I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as didn’t worship the beast nor his image, and didn’t receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Rev 21:5
He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”

Rev 22:7
“Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

Rev 22:9
He said to me, “See you don’t do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you and with your brothers, the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

Rev 22:14
Blessed are those who do his commandments,† that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

The great commandment

And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:35-40)

In its rightful context, when the Apostle Paul spoke of jealousy or envy, he referred to it in the following context during his ministry, (except for when he referred to it as a sin of the flesh: 1 Timothy 6:4) –

Romans 11:11 KJB — I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to…
