Chichen Itza is an archaeological site in Yucatan and one of the most visited locations in Mexico. It is considered to be the most important ancient city of the Mayan Culture. Many archaeologists believe that this powerful economic city was built around 600 AD. In 2007, Chichen Itza was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World after a worldwide vote. It was designated as the UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988.
