TO VOID OR AVOID A VOID?

Is a void like an abyss that is a demon/god that could but probably won’t stare back, one that we react to with violence or credulity, or much less commonly with curiosity? Or is it more a nothingness, a lack, a presence of an absence, a desire felt for an unavailable—even impossible—object that disappears when the object is possessed. It’s as if the desire is the object of desire.
