Picalope and the ever adorable DRAGON FRUIT-BAT– (still love the pun-ny character design <3)
Now I’m ready to work on lil details of my main piece’s background! I’m pumped!!

I’ve decided Lillianala should have a robot pal @tulpamom
Her name is Sealey and she masquerades as a gimmicky companion bot that can cling to your shoulder, make little noises and play back audio recordings. The eye blinks and flickers accordingly, but if you flip up her face it can both crack digital locks and scan simple codes.
I figured since Lil is roughing it on the streets she’s probably no stranger to dumpster diving and could use something that helps her get into the more high-end ones that have locks on them.
And yes, Ginger has a favourite colour scheme for her bots lol

Day 7 (I’m not counting this against my streak, I had extenuating circumstances): Integrity
ALTI get that I’m stretching the definition of “character with a design” but you see I have a really solid reason- I can do whatever I want. The pose is a little funky but I really like how this kid turned out!
I’ve had some Fallen Children designs rattling around my head for a while, and I really lucked out that I got Integrity first because they easily had the strongest image in my head aside from Justice. “Ballerina” and “Cowboy” are pretty unmistakable aesthetics.
Worldbuilding, theorizing, and making shit up under the cut!
[[MORE]]The Fallen Children are really interesting to me, just their existence opens up a million questions. Why are all the fallen humans children? Why did they all have different soul colors? Why does the Barrier need 7 specifically? What was the time gap between each fall?
How wildly am I going to speculate on this? Yes.
I have a LOT of ideas on how magic might work overall in the UTDR universe, so I’m gonna try to keep this somewhat short.
Here’s Pitch Number 1: I think that Magic and Souls are separate things, but magic can be channeled through a soul. The *type* of magic that any given soul can channel depends on multiple factors. I think of it kind of like the visible light spectrum. White light is the result of every color of light combining, and white souls are the same. Monsters aren’t organic beings, they’re primarily magical. Any monster can learn and use any type of magic (technically, it’s much harder in practice). This is why default attacks are white, they don’t lean towards any one type of magic. Humans, on the other hand, are primarily organic. Their souls can’t absorb or reflect as much, so they only get one type of magic if they have any at all. To create a white attack the way monsters do, multiple mages would have to perform a spell in perfect unison.
Pitch Number 2: Human magic users are exceedingly rare, and even rarer now than they were during the War. The Barrier is the way it is because it’s held together by the 7 souls of the mages that cast it. They sacrificed their lives to put it up, and their determination continues to power it. This is why Asgore needs 7 to fully break it. This process essentially killed magic on the Surface, anything magical that manages to pop up is drawn to the entrance of the Underground at Mt. Ebott. Including people.
Pitch Number 3: The Fallen Children are the types of rare people with a very high magical capacity. A Mage typically comes into their magic in childhood, right before adolescence, when their Soul becomes more assertive and less fragile. It’s not exactly one to one, not every child who could be a Mage is drawn there, but the ones nearby? Yeah. This is why every fallen human was a child. One would pop up in every however many generations, and eventually would be compelled up the mountain.
That’s all for now. I think wayyyyyyy too much about this. I’ll probably get even more into it with the next kid lol
ALTDay 6: Little Ball
The disparity in complexity between today and yesterday is extremely funny to me
Day 5: UNDYNE!!
ALTHIIIII UNDYNE MY BEST FRIEND UNDYNE!!!!! Before I get into any detail about my best friend Undyne I need to credit @kyoukorpse for the open-tank-top-for-her-gills thing because I fully stole that from them. Some rambling nonsense under the cut :)
[[MORE]]So I’ve written a truly ungodly amount of headcanon/theory on monster physiology. So much so that it would be straight up unreasonable for me to put it all here, and if you’ve been here before you know that I don’t shy away from disgustingly long posts so that should say something lmao.
I bring this up because I want to talk about my headcanon for Undyne’s eye! And THAT headcanon is pretty heavily based in the OTHER headcanon. So. I’m gonna try really fucking hard to summarize.
Here is a blurb from my notes on Monster Physicality:
It’s important to understand that monster physiology is highly contextual.
Animals are organic, they’re made up of many layered materials all woven together. Monsters are not organic, they’re magical. A monster body is deceptively simple in structure, it’s just magic in different shapes based on family history and/or environment.
The point of all this is that magic mimicks matter. This is why so many monsters resemble different objects or animals, the magic that forms monsters is using what already exists as a blueprint. They don’t necessarily have the same inner workings as the thing they’re based on. Especially because the only organ necessary for a monster to survive is their Soul. (Comparable to Gems in SU, but not exactly the same)
And here’s a blurb from my notes on magic:
Monsters, on the other hand, are primarily magic. There’s nothing for the magic to be blocked by, so it flows through and around them according to their will (guided by their Soul.) This is what makes spellcasting so easy for them. The magic that makes up their body has easy access to the magic that naturally exists everywhere. This is why monsters can summon bullets so far away from themselves. It’s enacting the will of their soul on magic way over there by connecting their own magic with it. You can kind of follow magic like you would electrical currents. It always connects back to somewhere.
SO. WITH THAT ESTABLISHED, HERE’S MY THOUGHTS ON UNDYNE’S EYE AFTER WAY TOO MUCH PREAMBLE:
Undyne is missing her left eye entirely. Because of the structure of monsters, it’s sort of just a swirling magical pit in an approximation of an eye socket. The eyepatch is protective in multiple ways, preventing debris and dust and shit from getting in there, but also making sure she doesn’t overload her magic and hurt herself further. The magic she directly summons from her soul (something she does very often in order to create her spears) is more likely to leak out around the wound. The area around her eye is more sensitive, so magic exploding out from there is really dangerous for her. It could literally crack her head open. She’s only able to control that wild magic when she’s all hopped up on Determination. Every couple of months she gets the patch re-enchanted so that it stays secure and keeps its containment properties.
I’m still considering what circumstances would lead to her losing the eye in the first place. We’ll see if I can come up with anything interesting

Some warmups that turned into a character design study I guess
The yellow bunny is a jock, the green bunny is a nerd, the pink bunny is bubbly.
