I stay purposefully vague on this topic because I think we just lack the puzzle pieces to solve it currently. Although, on the vastly more speculative side of things, I do have some thoughts!

TLDR: I believe Gaster’s end goal is freeing himself of the guilt he feels over his past treatment of Sans and Papyrus. This conclusion remains the same regardless of his familial connection with the two (although, it feels pretty indisputable to me that he’s their father).

The means by which Gaster plans to erase his guilt can vary depending on how you characterize him. While I’m tempted to say that he wants to quite literally erase his emotions, my thematic analysis brain thinks he has a slightly more grounded, albeit equally unrealistic, plan: rewriting history (or fate) itself to erase his past mistreatment of Sans and Papyrus. Obviously, given Deltarune’s themes, this task will prove impossible, and I’m guessing Gaster’s arc will conclude with his realization that he needs to move on and form new bonds. Like Kris and Carol, Gaster’s constant efforts to “return to the past” have only further pushed away his loved ones and isolated him.

Mega long shot, but…

Would there be any interest in an adult Undertale server? Just to have a space for adult fans to be able to hang out and talk freely. I’m 30+ myself.

you know what’s pissing me the fuck off right now?

fanon chara

stop it that’s a fucked up but morally complex dead 8yo not a god sent from hell with a knife. like fr that only happened in geno because of the fact they experienced the LOVE from killing so many monsters and the trauma from watching us kill all their friends and family. not to mention. 8 years old. very impressionable. and the reason they’re so op at the end is because you spent the entire game farming for stats, that’s just what L20 does.

this started because i was playing jjs with some friends. good game, i like the workshop a lot. and for some reason, chara’s just there? and like, possesses your character??? via the red SOUL??????? fuckign. lore misunderstaning 100.

i digress, they have a BANGER of a theme

If you hate alphys you are so fake actually. Her notifications aren’t “annoying” bro, I can kind of see what you’re saying but you’re completely ignoring what type of game pacifist undertale really is. It’s about the characters, not about finishing as fast as possible, take your time and love the characters we are given.

She is extremely flawed and extremely important to the plot. Sometimes I argue, she is who many people claim sans to be (NOT sans hate. We love sans trust I just think people subconsciously take all her personality and place it onto him because he’s the fan favorite)

I love her truly and all the mistakes she has made and her anxiousness and how insanely relatable she is. If you hate her GO AWAY. Shoo.

AND she’s the cutest damn thing on the planet.

More on this [Post]

Just because something is bad on purpose, it doesn’t mean it is exempt from any valid criticism

(yes, this is about the Genocide route in Undertale

You can’t keep deflecting people’s critiques by saying “its supposed to be anti-climatic!!”

“its bad on purpose! its supposed to be tedious and boring”

Like, you can’t keep doing this whenever someone criticizes your favorite game/show

Jeez, i don’t like it when people keep deflecting any criticism towards Undertale like that, just because you like something, it doesn’t mean it is exempt from valid/meaningful criticism.

(like, i don’t like it when people just deflect valid criticism in general, good criticism helps people)

Thinking about how toriel parallels asgore.

Both of them are “guardians” of their respective place (toriel the ruins and asgore the entire underground.) One lives in Home and one lives in new Home. They specifically guard the exit to their respective location from you and don’t let you leave freely, even fighting you despite not wanting to hurt you. Both act out of a sense of responsibility, toriel for humans and asgore for monsters. Interestingly, this is also the split of their children. On that point, toriel also has the burial of their human child under a garden of flowers and asgore had the burial of their monster child in their garden of flowers (or at least he did before well…) They are the both boss monsters you must fight after navigating through a monster city that leads to the same house. After fighting them, you are confronted by Flowey before exiting through a door and getting the game credits. To spare toriel you have to repeatedly use MERCY and to spare asgore you have to repeatedly use FIGHT. They are both the only characters to my knowledge (besides maybe gerson) to have met every fallen human (for asgore, if not in person at least he has seen their souls.) If we imagine the ruins as a mini, representation of the underground (like some kind of tutorial for it) it’s interesting how the monsters in the ruins fear toriel but the monsters in the underground love asgore despite the fact that toriel is the one saving children and asgore is the one killing them. Of course this makes sense from the perspective of the monsters but from an outside looking in perspective it’s reversed to what you’d assume. The only act you have in both fights is “talk.” If you use them the narrator will mention that you want to tell toriel she died if you had killed her before and that you tell asgore that he has killed you before if he’s killed you before. They also both appear to possibly, and I’m reaching here, be goats.

Anyway my theory is there might be some kind of connection between these two characters.
