my pre-fall gaster
hi, this is my first post on tumblr in a while, hopefully starting to post more
i actually put alot of thought into this design, and im real proud of it. if it wasn’t obvious i had alot of fun doodling him
my immediate thought, of course, was to take the mysteryman sprites silhouette and prioritize that as a base. after that, i knew i had to give him the color green somewhere. (greenster theory, rgb, green and inbetween blah blah blah). after that, i get a little more specific.
i decided to give his head defined cheekbones, as it was lacking a lot of detail. in general i’d imagine he’d have lost pretty much all his definition in the mysteryman sprite, so i decided to bring things i imagine he would he have had based on the other skelebros designs: among them defined cheekbones like i said, but also a nose with a nose line based on gaster blasters, more defined hands and also teeth. i took away his cracks since.. i mean, i feel like those are only reminiscent of his “post” fall state. (similarly, i took away his iconic hand holes since i imagine those represent sacrificial imagery)
for the pupils, i actually based them on gaster blasters, but went for an inbetween approach between sans and papyrus. since sans has whole white pupils and papyrus has none, the result is a mix of both. i also exaggerate it for certain expressions to give it more effect
i wanted to give his design the humble charm of the “forgotten man”. as such, he’s very rounded. of course really only because mysteryman is like that, but it also generally makes him look friendlier. however, i like to imagine he’s sharp around the edges. i don’t think he would have been entirely soft, so i made his cheekbones sharper to stick them out from the generally round nature of his design. i guess you could also say it shows his “wits” by giving him sharper edges around his head lol
his collar is deliberately based around the angel shape in the delta rune. in case you didn’t know, gaster is seemingly associated with fallen angel imagery. he has a GLOWING voice, the forgotten mans entrance in mancountry has the angel above it, and he’s also the devil, who is a fallen angel.
a fun detail is that i wanted to keep his lopsided-ness! in his expressions you’ll notice his pupils aren’t perfectly aligned, and his hands aren’t placed perfectly symmetrical.

I DO think that Carol/Dess groomed Kris, but I can’t get behind the “Carol/Dess sexually groomed Kris” because:
1. It’s out of character for Carol and most likely out of character for Dess
2. if Undyne got even a WHIFF of something like that they’d ALL be dead, let alone Rudy or Asgore finding out

I have nothing wrong with feminizing Ralsei, that’s cool! I can relate to the way Ralsei is sometimes, and as a trans woman, yeah! Trans woman Ralsei’s cool! But making Kris a man and then turning it into basically hetslop, or honestly kinda worse with Ralsei still going by he/him and just being a “cute femboy wife”, is so… So fucking. I dont even know. It’s like they took Kris being non-binary as a self insert for pronouns or something. Big ribbon that says “missing the point award”

hot take: krusie is an example of people not believing that u can be someone’s platonic soulmate/needing a perfectly good platonic relationship to be romantic because of subconcious allosexist reasons. additonally, i would go so far as to say that in my opinion it is also an example of subconcious misogyny in some cases due to the canon yuri ship that directly contradicts krusie. this is not to say that i do not fuck with krusie, it is a sick as fuck ship and people should ship whatever they want for their own personal preferences and reasons, but based on my own fandom observations this is what i believe happened in krusie’s (same for many other popular ships in various fandoms) case, at least for a lot of its shippers.

Hate when people draw sans undertale as some skinny twink. How the fuck do you twinkify a wide skeleton. He’s already bones you can at least give him some horizontal privilege
