New enemy alert!
The Bulwark is an armoured foe that produces sharp spikes from the ground to pierce through plant defenses! It’s ability to resist damage can make a horde of them rather scary to fight!

3D Practice: Post #4!
A little bit different this time around.
Just finished this project after a bit more than two weeks - when I thought it was going to take maybe one. It’s a weird flip-top jar prop with even weirder green goop inside. This was supposed to be my first for Polycount’s 100th Bi-Monthly Environment Art Challenge.
A combination of procrastination, very little planning and learning a lot of new things in quick succession is what made this (supposedly) small project into something that chewed up so much time. I did learn a bit about a lot of things though. Also, while the start and middle were pretty rough, I felt like I kind of salvaged it at the end.

I have no idea what to call them :_(
Help…
Я без понятия, как их назвать :_(

I wanted to create a character in 3D. I sketched out some ideas and started working on it. Here’s the final model:
I haven’t come up with a name yet :_(
Мне хотелось создать персонажа в 3д. Накидал набросков и стал делать. Вот финальная моделька:

I had this video ready back in 2024 but I had trouble uploading it for some reason. I probably forgot to publish this here for some reason.
So when Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was getting a remake and I saw some of the Crystal Stars there, I remembered I had designed about thirteen other Crystal Stars for a fanfic I wrote fifteen years ago, and seeing the remake inspired me to try to make some kind of Paper Mario animation. I hadn’t really gotten far in it, just at the Crystal Stars and a few environment parts that left me on a roadblock and made me work on other things. But at least I can show the work on the Crystal Stars I made.
I was originally going to do just the remake designs of the stars, but I went a step further and did the original Crystal Star designs from the GameCube version and made a little switch in Geometry Nodes to swap to either one.
Maybe I’ll eventually finish the animation I wanted to work on, but it’s also hard to work on it when you got many other ideas to boot, but that’s really on me.
That said, enjoy these stars!
I hope you enjoy my 50th blog post, which comes full circle to where I began my blog nearly 8 years ago – escaping the “box” and what it means!

Howdy folks! It’s been a hot minute, huh? Well truth is I haven’t really touched Blender in the last few weeks due to time; even though there was very little left to finish on the street lamp prop… However I managed to fit some time in today and I wrapped up the model, including fixing up a rogue mask in Substance Painter turning the backside completely black, and placed it into the street scene today.

There’s 3 that’s visible in the camera, and I feel they will be an excellent source of light when I do that pass. There are 2 small jobs I want to do before I move onto the lighting pass: the first is adding some cars on the street, but I think I’ll see if I can find a cyberpunk car pack as modelling cars will be too time consuming, and the other is doing a new version of my fire particle. The one I created and rendered out as a texture isn’t fir the purpose - the texture just tanks the framerate to unusable levels, while the particle itself is a lot more resource efficient. The only reason I rendered is as a material was to cut down on disc space… which didn’t even happen because the sequence consumes like 6GB. ^^“
But in any case, the creation of the scene itself is almost finished, and soon a render won’t be impossibly dark which I’m super excited for. ^^
Uh, looks like I’d never uploaded that? 3D lynx (Big paws! Long legs!) and sheep (fluff!). Music (might be a bit loud!) is: “Istanbul (not Constantinople)”, the version by Trevor Horn Orchestra.
