For every truth, ten rumors abound,
This patient has become very sick,
His mental health isn’t very sound.
Get him off of that Internet quick.

The author of confusion began a war,
To capture minds of the weakest men,
He’ll hit hard if you open that door,
Watch out! That fiend’s coming again.

The World Wide Web is his great net,
He spins the wildest tales so I hear,
So beware of that evil one’s threat,
And keep his web lies out of your ear.

Let’s see:

Pros: ability to like individual reblog chains is nice, since there are quite a few posts with various chains and I have wished I could like more than one of them.

Cons: Eliminates ability of OP to control post by disabling reblogs (a GOOD update) because reblogs with content can continue to circulate, eliminates ability of OP to stop someone from interacting/seeing via blocking because reblogs with content will be accessible, increases threat of harassment, prevents OP from seeing any comments beyond a first-circle reblog (including compliments, misinformation, or anything they might want to respond to), incentivizes spam replies, DISincentivizes engagement from anyone not trying to run up their own numbers, DISincentivizes many tag replies since OP won’t see them beyond a first-level reblog, makes Tumblr posts look significantly more empty and less engaged overall, creates significantly more difficulty in looking through the notes.

Hmm, it’s tough to tell, but I think one of these sides might have an edge.

This isn’t about you who reblog.

Apparently, @staff has taken the step to redefine the word reblog to mean repost.

They mention in their update, “give contributors the recognition they deserve”, however, this is quite the opposite. This is simply a power grab to indicate that all content posted on Tumblr is now theirs to do with as they please.

My humblest apologies, as at this time, I have decided to no longer post original content, that I personally created, on Tumblr until this is atrocity is resolved.

And if not resolved in the near future, then I will be closing my account(s).

Good luck in these times of overbearing greed.

Hearing “gold star” immediately makes me think of lesbians, and it makes me instantly hard, thinking about fucking some dumb slut in front of her girlfriend and taking her gold star gets me so fucking hard

In case @staff was wondering, I am logging out of tumblr on purpose for the first time in literally years because of the latest update. Others have articulated way better all the issues, but for my part: my dash is 1000 times more difficult to comprehend now and I have gotten frustrated pretty much instantly every time I’ve tried to use the new dash. I can’t tell where one post ends and another begins, each reblog feels like a new post disconnected from its context, and there’s souch extraneous info on each post that it’s very very quickly overwhelming. No one asked for this update and it doesn’t solve any of the actual problems people have with this site.

I’ll be back later to check if things improve.

neutrik na2jj is one of my top favorite pieces of industrial design. it’s a thick spring with a narrow opening at either end that kind of bulbs out in the middle around a plastic sleeve with an oblong slot. it’s got juuuust enough room for the tips of two TS plugs, and locks them together.

the only way to break the connection is to press up on the sleeve while holding both ends of the spring, otherwise it’s solid, they do not pull apart. the heavy metal spring does double duty connecting the sleeves of the two jacks. these couplers are less than $5 apiece and there is nothing better. first time i ever saw them i felt like i was living in the future.
