Busy all day crossing off items on the “to do” list, didn’t get a chance to run til the evening, and by then felt mentally drained along with being hungry. This was the backdrop to the evening 8 miler through the neighborhood. The run never got better, nearly bonked in the middle of it but made it back home ok. Glad to at least get in a run on an empty tank. Refueled with a big dinner tonight and hopefully will power up tomorrow.

Perfect day for a run with a very big bunch of like mined people. I have been doing the City to Surf since I was 11 years old and I am pretty sure I have never seen such a big turn out for this iconic fun run. It was such a lovely sunny day we both enjoyed the course a lot. Post run we got some lunch and sat on the grass and watched the entertainment and prize giving. Lots of cool prizes. Big ups to Fresh Choice for giving all entrants a bag of groceries to take home. No I am not being sponsored by Fresh Choice. We walked home along the beach pausing for refreshments at the Mr Whippy truck. Just to cap it off there is cricket on the telly this afternoon so it will be feet up and stitching for the rest of the day. Perfect day.
An NSV?
I’m feeling all my stretches again.
There was a period where I would do them and I wouldn’t feel them all.
But lately? I get into a stretch, and it’s like my muscle is going “THANK YOU” and I just want to sink into it.
Oooof.
God it’s good.
I never expected to make friends when starting exercise classes, but I’m glad I did. We met up at a brewery, played a card game, and went axe throwing the other night! My social battery was constantly in flux, but I’m glad I stuck things out.
Today was a special boot camp class! There were 3 stations with 4 moves each. You get 40 seconds to do a move and then 20 seconds rest before you switch to the next move. We did them all 3 times!
Station 1
Squats
Reverse lunges
Squat jumps
Lunge walk
Station 2
Push-ups
Shoulder taps
Burpees
Running
Station 3
Medicine ball slams
Russian Twists
Sit-ups
Planks
After we did all of the stations 3 times, there was a relay race involving running and bear crawls! It was a pretty exhausting workout. 😅 I struggled a lot with my stomach and it might have been because of my pre-workout/creatine drink I had beforehand….
Packed the crutches away. For the first time in close to a week, I think I may be able to get through the whole day without pain.
Small victories.

We saw the puppies surgeon the other day and we definitely have to have her knee repaired surgically. The surgery is on the 25th and until then she is to remain as quiet as possible so she doesn’t further tear the cartilage. She’s pretty stoned most of the time because she loves to run otherwise. Once she has surgery it’s 2 weeks where she’s to remain basically immobile except to go out to potty and even then she has to be on a leash. After the 2 weeks is up she will start therapy which is twice a week for 2 weeks. At that point we have to do therapy exercises at home as well due to her size and weight but we also have to start walking her.
This is a dog that has never liked to go for walks. To her they are boring and she just turns around and drags us home. She’d prefer to chase a ball in our big yard for an hour. This means she and I are getting forced exercise together 😂. We start at a 5 min walk for a couple of days and then work our way up 5 min at a time to 30min.
I have not walked any amount of distance in a very long time. My trainer wanted my gait to be corrected and my knee to straighten before I walked allot. I’ve been getting exercise in other ways. Two weeks ago he said that my gait is much improved and we need to look at gaining momentum and distance with walking how that things are better.
Apparently the dog and I are on the same therapy program of forced exercise. It’s even the same knee we are rehabbing. They say owners and dogs start to look and act alike after being together a long time. My husband says we didn’t need to take it to this extreme 😂😂😂.
