Healing Starts With Telling the Truth
When Survival Is Mistaken for Recovery
Covid was a moment of reckoning.
It didn’t “end.”
We just stopped paying attention to it.
People are still sick.
Long Covid has disabled millions.
Healthcare systems are still strained.
The mental health fallout is still unfolding.
Burnout, grief, brain fog, immune issues, anxiety – they didn’t just disappear. They went underground.
Society moved on because it needed to function again. Economies, politics, routines they demanded “normal.” We learned to live with loss and health complications without the language for it.
And when something isn’t named, it isn’t healed.
We normalised exhaustion.
We minimised chronic symptoms, chronic illness.
We treated survival as recovery.
But unfinished trauma doesn’t just vanish.
It shows up in our cells, our bodies.
In autoimmune illness
In withdrawal.
In depression.
In tempers.
In disconnection.
Silence doesn’t mean resolution.
It means avoidance.
Talking about Covid isn’t “dwelling.”
It’s accountability.
It’s public health.
It’s mental health.
It’s compassion.
No “Medical Professional” has said Covid is finished.
Many haven’t finished grieving, adapting, or rebuilding their lives around illness.
Maybe the real work of healing starts when we’re brave enough to say:
“This still matters.
So do the people living with the consequences.”
