Nhemamusasa means temporary shelter.

Beautiful rework of this mbira classic, plus the Chiwoniso original is included too. Magical.

Currently reading a paper (Troubling Whiteness: Music education and the “messiness” of equity work, by Juliet Hess) and it mentioned this instrument called a mbira, which is a kind of thumb piano from southern Africa, and I didn’t know what that looked or sounded like so I did a quick search and found this! It reminds me of a kalimba. I like how the music is always shifting and changing.

Daily instrument — Mbira
The mbira, also known as the thumb piano and its similar modern equivalent, the kalimba, is an instrument from the Shona people of Zimbabwe 1000 years ago. The mbira has 22-28 metal keys of varied lengths. The keys are attached to a wooden soundboard called a gwariva. Thumbs pluck the metal keys downwards to produce sound. the forefinger pluckes upwards. The mbira was used by the Shona people in ceremonies and for religious purposes.
