Sometimes I’m like ‘oh man teaching people a language is hard when they’re asking intricate mechanics questions and you have to figure out a way to explain it using the mechanics of their starting language’ and then i have to teach someone from zero and i realise that no, the hardest part about teaching a language is the very start where only 2% is sticking and the rest is sliding off.

Reinforcing the same six things over and over until all of them stick while ALSO trying not to demotivate the student is so fucking hard dude. I’ve worked jobs where i have a time limit, life or death outcomes, and extremely hazardous work conditions all at once but the brain exhaustion from teaching someone basic conversation blocks from zero is… unreal. I could read a book after work in the engine room, but after this? I’m just on my back mentally wiped unable to do shit.

Diary entry 1171

Next week appointments:
- Mon: work out and get a massage [I need to talk with the physio before that]
- Wed: go to the hair salon [dye my hair and get a trim]
- Thu: work out again
- study and listen to Korean [I have to listen to it a lot]
- [whenever I can]: rest. I’m tired but I have to do these things for me… I thought a lot if to go to the hair salon or not but I want to color my hair in a different color and I just really need a trim so I’ll go

LOL thanks spotify so on point

so I accidentally made a coffee shop au for language

So I was watching a Jan Misali video and he said “if language was good then the 5 vowel system would be water” and then I thought “wait what IF language WAS food” and then I thought that the customers would be speakers of the languages and the employees would be the different language families like Romance and Germanic and stuff and the dishes/meals would be the actual languages and the drink would represent the vowels in the language and the consonant inventory would be the side dish or the seasoning and and stuff like whether individual symbols are for syllables or sounds or entire words could decide if it is a part of the breakfast or lunch or dinner menus and oh my God I did it again I overthunk(or whatever the past tense of ‘overthinking’ is) a single sentence in a YouTube video again

so uhh thanks @hbmmaster for give me thoughts in my brain that I cannot draw because you can’t draw language itself in a barista uniform

Diary entry 1170

My neck hurts a lotso I will take paracetamol
I cannot even open my mouth well
Maybe… It’s because of the massage the other day
Anyway today the weather is not good. They said this night it will rain a lot… March and November are difficult months so I hope there won’t be disasters

Awotwe - Eight.

Astronomers who wouldn’t know the origins of the word “sun” or of the meanings and origins of astronomical signs and symbols.

Not even the fraudulent NASA will know the origins of the word, sun or the origins and meaning of the symbol representing the number 8. Before Europeans came into a realisation of self, the world was already instituted.

Why So Many Languages Cluster Along Asia's Mountain Belt - Vivid Maps

Language diversity map. That green corridor follows the mountains almost exactly — Caucasus, Hindu Kush, Himalayas, all the way down to Southeast Asia. The Caucasus alone holds 35–40 indigenous languages across three families that share no common ancestor. Nepal has 123.

Diary entry 1169

One night a few days ago I was just talking with my family when suddenly I almost said “맞습니다” (right). So I asked myself “Why in Korean?”. I was actually surprised too lol
I’m planning to take a nap this afternoon

So weird thinking abt languages like. I’m listening to prófugos by soda stereo and it’s getting me emotional even though I can understand like 5words total but like just astounding to think abt that ppl each have their own language that they experience life in and it’s a different way of experiencing life through every person and every language

Tu - To Make a Hole.

Roots and origins of the words, tunnel or tube. To make a hole through something.

Do you know the origins of the language you speak? Can you substantiate the language you claim to speak?

How do you postulate about history if you do not know the origins of the language you speak? Afrika is the primary origin of language.

Speaking different languages is fun because you switch languages and with that switch your tone, volume, personality, gestures, and even ability to smile. I’m far more smiley, jokey and have what I call my “work persona” in English, than in my native tongue.
