The last thing I learned about love didn’t come from a book or lecture—it came from someone I love. In this personal essay, I reflect on rare connections, friendship, and why some bonds remain part of us long after life moves in different directions.

‘Our bond is private. Some things have to stay between us’: Paolo Sorrentino and Toni Servillo on smoking, cinema and secrets | Movies

‘They like to smoke,” says the publicist ahead of my interview with Paolo Sorrentino and Toni Servillo. That’s why the table and chairs have been hastily dragged outside. That’s why today’s audience will be conducted alfresco. We’re on the cramped sixth-floor balcony of a Venice hotel, overlooking the sea, beneath a tumult of dark clouds. The publicist points down at my recording device and asks:…

coming up on a year soon from when I first started my james bond film ranking and review endeavors and I fear to complete my goals in this regard I Will have to watch every bond movie Again. except of course for no time to die which I still have yet to watch all the way through even once. anyway. the fact that I’m not only contemplating doing this but almost actively wanting to do it is a sign that it’s been too long. so it’s Gonna happen eventually and I’m accepting that. but surely this will be fine and will only serve to make any ranking and review I might complete Better and More Nuanced. right? and it will not have any negative effects on my psyche whatsoever. right? I did buy 1 (one) pack of vintage topps moonraker trading cards but that’s only because I was buying trading cards for my sibling + cousin as xmas gifts to begin with and I saw them and thoughtttt well I have to obviously. but that’s literally normal and not that bad. right ? and probably it will not get worse than this. so it will be fine. right

You can soon live out your Bond fantasies with retractable stud tires

In 1987’s The Living Daylights, James Bond presses a dashboard button to activate retractable tire studs, giving the Aston Martin V8 Vantage he’s driving more traction on a frozen lake. That tire technology is no longer limited to the movies. Later this year, Finnish tire brand Nokian is planning to launch a new snow tire with studs that automatically deploy when temperatures drop. Understanding a Bond After It Changes

A Bond That Changes Form, Not Existence

I was born a twin. It’s not simply a phrase, but a truth understood most deeply by those who live it. Twin ship is not defined by proximity, nor is it dependent on constant presence. It exists beyond physical distance, and beyond circumstance. It is part of identity itself – something formed at the very beginning.

Separation doesn’t end the bond between twins; it reshapes it. What was once expressed through shared moments becomes something quieter, something internal. The connection doesn’t disappear simply because it’s no longer visible. Death may physically separate twins, then it becomes less about being side by side and more about living with the permanent knowledge of the other.

Throughout our lives, we were known as “the twins,” “twinnies,” or “which one are you?” Occasionally, we were called by our actual names. We were continually referenced as a pair. Even today, I am still identified by my twin – something I struggle with, considering that side by side we were completely independent, and completely different, even more so because of our accomplishments.

It wasn’t that people couldn’t tell us apart. Or they simply couldn’t be bothered to. Our aunt always greeted us with ‘which one are you?’

Keeping us grouped together meant they didn’t have to make the effort to get to know us as individuals. The result was that over the decades, we not only shared an identity, but also a reputation. If one of us was seen negatively, the other was seen the same. Even today, though my twin is no longer physically present, alive, and in my life, people still see us as one identity, one character – even though I have grown and achieved in my own way. And that isn’t right or fair. Being part of a twin ship meant learning quickly how the world saw us. As the second twin, I learned early to observe more than I spoke. It was how I coped with being perceived as half of a whole.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, there are those who aren’t twins may struggle to understand the bond, the twin concept – or may even disagree – because most relationships are shaped and sustained by presence. When that presence fades, people assume the relationship fades with it. But twin ship doesn’t follow those rules. It began at birth, and it remains a constant. And it isn’t confusion that keeps us bound together in other people’s eyes – it’s convenience. It’s easier not to separate than to see us as individuals.

Distance, particularly around death can change how twin ship is felt, but it cannot undo what has always been true, there. A twin is not someone you stop being just because your twin is no longer physically around you. A twin is someone who remains part of you, in silence, and in absence. Separation doesn’t end you being a twin. Its form changes, while its existence remains unchanged.

Daniel Craig - James Bond

I have watched all the Bond films (at the request of @xerohourcheese and whilst I (sort of) enjoyed the early ones (Diamonds are Forever being my favourite of them), I only really started to pay proper attention to the Daniel Craig ones, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre & No Time to Die. I even went to the cinema to see Skyfall, which was unusual for me. I did previously post and rate all the original Bond films on my old side blog but I just don’t have the spoons to do it again, so it’s just the latest ones I’ll be rating, and it will be no surprise that I rate them 5/5. I must add that although I like Daniel Craig’s Bond, I much prefer his Benoit Blanc

Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

So, I’m actually listening to the Tina Turner song GoldenEye… I think this is about an anime style rivalmance. Like, she talks up how he’s all dangerous and she’s weak to him … but also talks about how she’s going to pin him down and tame him.

I never realised how much this song is ALSO a deconstruction of the Bond theme idea, while also being a perfect throwback. Much like the film itself.

Still would have preferred the Ace of Base theme though.

Christ Jesus Above All

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says,

“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.

(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Taron Egerton Says He’s Not ‘Right’ for James Bond Role

Don’t expect Taron Egerton to replace Daniel Craig as 007.
As one of the leading young actors in British cinema thanks to starring roles in films such as “Rocketman” and the “Kingsman” series, Egerton has long been tipped as one of the names to take over as James Bond.
In a new red carpet interview with Variety AU/NZ, however, Egerton insisted he doesn’t see himself as the iconic spy.
“I don’t…
