YAYAYAYA THEY REVERTED THE UPDATE

@changes My feedback regarding the update to the reblog notes is this: I do not approve of it, nor do I enjoy it. I will continue to voice this discontent. It limits the growth of small blogs, limits the reach of artists that have already been struggling to get it before, limits the reaches of our communication in the communities we’ve built, and simply sucks. The reblog function as it was before is what set Tumblr apart from other websites, the reason we keep coming back here. Making it more like other websites removes the incentive to stay.

@staff @tumblr Genuinely who was asking for the change in reblogs? People on this site complain about a lot of bugs and usage things, but getting credit for reblogging something was never on the table from everything I’ve seen anywhere in my continual usage of the site since 2013.

I need to be able to scroll really quick to the bottom of my blog posts. staring at you, tumblr designers….

@staff @changes have fixed the issue, glad that they listened and didn’t keep trucking with a decision literally nobody wanted, I will continue enjoying tumblr now knowing that it’s core functionality isn’t being completely fucked up and that my note count will be an accurate reflection of the reach my post has, and that I’ll be able to see all the cute comments people make about my work as it’s shared through the tumblr landscape.

The evil has been defeated.

It’d be cool if you guys posted or shared ways to archive a blog for those of us with massive blogs for whom the built in archive button doesn’t work

In other news, I’ve confirmed that this site, in fact, has a dogshit way of seeing what is trending right now

(Or, perhaps, they ban certain words from appearing)

I will be going on hiatus in light of the ridiculous and unfair update that @staff @tumblr made to their reblog process.

During this hiatus I will be joining others in logging out from tumblr as part of a black out response.

In case Tumblr refuses to roll back this change, I will be looking for alternative sites to move my work to.

just cancelled my tumblr premium subscription because of this new update. it’ll suck being blasted with ads again, but fuck staff if they think i’m going to pay for a worse version of this site
