go to @changes to give feedback on the reblog notes!
putting in a support ticket will just direct you to post there.
I am a tiny blog, so if you see this please reblog it to spread the word!

pretty ironic that @staff is pushing this functionality-annihilating update as the slogan for the official @tumblr page is “Join the conversation, find your community. One post at a time.”
the new update:
a) fragments conversations into divided little blocks, thus making the overall conversation not only harder to join, but also harder to have;
b) separates community members instead of uniting them under one post where multiple comments and tags can be read, by both the OP and people who engage with the post;
c) essentially makes multiple posts out of a single post, so it’s not really “one post at a time,” but more, “one fraction of a post at a time,” which is counter-intuitive to the site’s appeal, much of which is based in its linearity and chronology.

what if we open source coded our own tumblr like ao3 bc this sucks for so many reasons
Yall this is the first update where I think it could actually drive me off the site if it goes through. Like, I’d stick around but stop posting. I’d stop adding comments. Other people would probably stop posting too. It would stop being an app to come back to because I wouldn’t want to say anything anymore.
@changes tagging since the support ticket email said people check those notifs.
lmao this new reblog “feature” is so fucking janky. like as well as being a dogshit idea it doesn’t even work!
take this gifset of mine

someone reblogged it with a comment. someone else then reblogged it from them, which afaik isn’t being added to my note/reblog count (interestingly the count currently shown in this link, 1076, is not what my note count shows)
BUT i did seem to get a notification about said reblog & can see it my activity centre & in the normal notes…
HOWEVER!
now when i go to the reblogs on my og post, I can no longer see the comment from the person this person reblogged it from??? the only reason i know it exists is because i stumbled across it browsing the tags!
like come on @tumblr @changes if you’re gonna introduce an unpopular feature nobody asked for at least check to make sure it works!
coming out of the woods to say I fucking hate the new update
please send feedback to staff and tell them we don’t want this shit
If you look at a blog in its themed mode or whatever it’s called (putting the username before tumblr.com), you can still see all the notes in one place. This could be useful for now.
Oh gods if you reblog anything from a popular blog be prepared for your inbox to fill up quick fucking hell.
I’ll make a post out of the comment I left on the @changes blogpost and the feedback form I submitted.
This update is a really bad idea. One of the best things about this website is not having to deal with other websites’ “quote tweet/ratio” culture, in which you constantly have to see posts you find abhorrent on your dashboard just because someone you follow has to get in a “clapback.” This will make reblogging a post with comment adversarial by default and will like contribute to a significant, negative shift in this website’s culture.
honestly, if this site gets any uglier and any more like X, The Piss You Off App, i’m probably gonna just use it less. one of the reasons i still maintained any form of presence here was because i got less of the userbase that existed purely to say something stupid and stare at you like they earned metrics for it. but now everything has to be X, The Piss You Off App.
and now it’s like. great. there’s already blogs that exist just to try and post on everything and make you think they’re funny and steal reblogs, and now they’re actively being rewarded for that behavior. AND none of the artists i follow have used this place in years. so i have to curate my dashboard even harder to make sure i’m not reblogging any reblog parasites.
here’s hoping xkit has me covered?

ALT
ALT“posted 5 hours ago” hey someone whos good at PR stuff tell me is this good?
Bottom line is I use this site because it is fun. It is terrible and horrible and full of doom and anger and holier-than-thou attitudes, but there is blorbo from my shows, and people on here who just want to be silly and funny, and I am here because it is fun.
With all the new changes and obstacles taking away what I liked so much about using tumblr
I’m worried what I’ll do when this stops being fun.
I met my friends on tumblr.
I transitioned because of tumblr.
I started doing art. Because of tumblr.
It’s easy to engage with, and there Will be a point on its current course when I have to fight with it in order to engage with it, and it’s going to stop being fun. Then what. I find a new thing I guess, but an important part of me will be lost along the way.
Or staff takes me out back and puts my blog down like a dog in the street because I was critical. I mean, it’s not as though I didn’t see the signs. They don’t want us here
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. That’s why we’re completely changing how it works so we can be even more like Twitter, which is exactly what everyone wants.
I have been through so much in my life, and I’ve been told I carry myself well. And that’s it’s a beautiful thing. That’s all I ever wanted to hear. I didn’t wanna become my past. I water my garden everyday to be the woman I am today. Let’s promote self awareness and change and healing. The world can be so cruel. Let’s me the opposite.
WHY does adapting to a minor change in plans have to mentally feel like pushing your way through a gelatinous cube. Like yea bro, I know we’re not going to the store I thought, but the one across the street instead. Just wait till I’m ready after taking acid damage for abt 30min.
