🌙 desert sunsets • palace gardens • ancient magic

📚 student of diplomacy

👶 part‑time babysitter to a tiny sorceress

💛 someone taught me how to climb rooftops… don’t tell my parents

💬 “I’m not running away, I’m escaping to peace and quiet.”

📍Agrabah palace balconies, market rooftops, and occasionally wherever he is

📸 Posting Style

1. Royal Life, But Make It Relatable

Golden-hour balcony shots, jasmine vines, palace events she pretends to hate but secretly enjoys.

Soft smiles, gold jewelry, and the occasional “I swear I’m paying attention” expression during diplomacy lessons.

Caption:

“Diplomacy lesson: smile, nod, and text someone who makes it bearable.”

Hashtags:

#PrincessProblems #AgrabahHeir #RoyalButReal

2. Babysitting a Tiny Sorceress

Zafira mid‑spell, mid‑chaos, mid‑sugar‑rush.

Soft moments too — naps, storybooks, sand‑magic sparkles.

Jay sometimes appears in the background… accidentally on purpose.

Caption:

“Babysitting again. Manifesting patience. Manifesting snacks. Manifesting Jay showing up with both.”

Hashtags:

#CousinDuty #TinySorceress #SendHelp

3. Desert Aesthetic, Ancient Magic & Hot Pink Royalty

Sunset silhouettes, heirloom jewelry, scrolls from the palace archives… all contrasted with Aliyah’s signature hot pink.

Hot pink veils catching desert wind, hot pink kohl liner, hot pink embroidery on traditional Agrabah silks.

Her magic glows gold — but her style glows pink.

Caption:

“Magic isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s a whisper… or a hot pink statement.”

Hashtags:

#DesertMagic #HotPinkHeir #AgrabahAesthetic #RoyalGlow

4. Market Adventures (aka Secret Dates)

Street food, rooftop views, flying carpet selfies, and the “I swear I’m not sneaking out” outfits.

Jay’s hand, Jay’s shadow, Jay’s bracelet — always just barely visible.

Caption:

“Dad says I get this from him. Mom says she’s not surprised. Jay says he’ll race me to the next rooftop.”

Hashtags:

#StreetRatEnergy #MarketNights #NotADateIfNoOneSawUs

5. The Hidden Highlight

A private highlight with a single emoji: 💛

Inside:

  • Two bracelets, one gold, one navy
  • A shadow of two people on a rooftop
  • A blurry flying carpet selfie
  • A photo of her hand holding someone else’s, cropped just enough to hide his face
  • A hot pink scarf tied around a familiar wrist

Title: “sunset things”

Most Hebrew programs teach you to memorize.

I teach you to use Hebrew.

What actually works?

• Real context — the Hebrew Israelis actually speak

• Real feedback — you record your speaking and I guide you

• Real conversation patterns — so you can build your own sentences

• English-friendly methods — designed for how your brain learns

This is how you stop collecting words…

and start having conversations.

Good News From Israel

In the 25th Jan 26 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include

News of Israel’s Achievements and Heartwarming Stories from the Jewish State.

Many of Israel’s positive achievements and activities in this week’s newsletter could make you catch your breath in amazement. Medical discoveries of how cells re-generate can treat burns victims or prevent cancer from returning. How positive thinking can improve the response of the immune system. How to detect the onset of an IBD flare, and a portable device to transport cooled blood to the severely wounded.

Fill your lungs with the knowledge that Israeli activities have gained much recent international respect, from Golani and Syrian Druze, Lithuanian health officials, Dutch Christians, UAE Educators, marine food analysts, foreign investors, the wine industry, Artificial Intelligence developers, and US and NATO defense leaders.

Don’t hold your breath if you visit the Friends of Zion museum in Jerusalem and speak to holograms of some of Israel’s 14 Prime Ministers. Breathe normally if treated by some of the 1,000 doctors who immigrated to Israel in the last two years. No more coughing or sneezing if you receive the new influenza remedy invented by Hebrew University scientists. And say “Aahh! when you read about the rare black-footed penguin that hatched at Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo.

Finally, some readers may gasp that a brand new hospital just 16 miles from Gaza saved 96% of the hundreds of severely injured it treated in the recent war. Then exhale with a smile with the news that one of those injured has just got engaged to his rehabilitation nurse.

The photo is of an Israeli entertaining drivers at one of the busiest junctions in the Sharon region of Israel. How he kept his cool, even when the lights changed, was breathtaking to watch.

I am now publishing only every two weeks as I have to spend more time with my sick wife.  If you all can pray for Etka Gita bat Yocheved I am sure that she will recover quickly.  Apologies if I am unable to respond to your good wishes.

Best regards
Michael

Good News From Israel

In the 11th Jan 26 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include

This first newsletter of 2026, published on 11/1 (or 1/11 if you prefer) contains a number of firsts for Israel. The first engagement of two ex-hostages. The first concert of an ex-hostage. The first time Israeli-developed skin cancer treatment has been re-engineered to treat blood cancer. The first center to research into the interface between AI and the brain. And the first Israeli baby of 2026 (born in the first minute of the year).
The first Arab-Muslim Israeli police commander.  The first military defense plan between Israel and Morocco. The first delegation from Chile to visit Israel. The first country in the world to recognize Somaliland. And the first visit to Israel by the son of the ex-Shah of Iran.
The first Israel-developed supercomputer for Nvidia. The first system to connect multiple drones. Israel’s first launch pad for vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The first comprehensive border-protection system. The first technology to recycle mixed construction debris into end-product building materials. And an Israeli university that is first of its peers in generating founders of billion-dollar companies.
The first direct airline service from Israel to Vietnam.  The first view of a million-year-old Israeli cave system. And the first family of an American Ambassador to discover buried treasure in the Jewish State.

The photo (TY Sharon) is of Iranian protest posters in the Jerusalem museum of Islamic Art.  They were first exhibited in 2016 and we hope that their messages will inspire the Iranian people one decade later.

I can’t even make aliyah because where the fuck would I live? I don’t have a career that makes sense elsewhere because my background is in US politics and government. I would need to somehow figure out where I want to move based on where I get a job, while Israelis themselves struggle with employment. Then that job will not consider me without an address.

Speaking of, I don’t have a single address/person willing to let me use theirs/person I even know like that for receiving mail before I get there, a requirement for some reason, much less do I have an entire guarantor, which is a requirement to start renting an apartment. Like I don’t think they actually want young professionals to move to Israel.

I get the impression that native Israelis hate olim and view them as transplants the way any US metropolitan city views transplants, coupled with the disdain immigrants and refugees get everywhere, even if the hostility goes unnamed because of how at-odds the sentiment is with the national identity.

Forgetting all of that, the country is preparing for the need to accommodate a massive-scale refugee influx sometime soon, so I guess I could just wait for that operation and be another body asking for space to sleep in a school gymnasium, but if I can I would rather make aliyah before that happens and be on the side of the helpers and volunteers, since even though my background doesn’t look good to employers on paper, I have a lot of experience with disaster management and human services and public health, etc, plus case management and logistics and systems, so I would actually be so employable if anyone were able to recognize that.

Instead, my experience has been people looking at my educational background, seeing that I was nontraditional (just a little: I started my career before school, and I did community college before transferring to university to save money, and I was in the US Army), and deciding that this means I “have commitment issues,” and that I am “unreliable.” And I can’t explain what was actually going on because that is “rude,” which is a funny thing to hear in Hebrew from someone yelling at you for asking them a question during a job interview.

I thought my Hebrew was so much worse than it was for years because nobody in the entire country would ever act like I was making sense. Really. I thought I was losing my mind. Turns out, my grammer, word choice, and pronunciation were fine. It’s just that if you do anything even remotely different than a set and expected path, if you do anything other than…

Born in Israel, go to same couple of schools growing up knowing exactly what you want to do as an adult, draft, get out or extend (in a specialty related to what you want to do for the rest of your life), go to college for the exact thing you want to do for the rest of your life, then immediately get work in that field…. oh and make sure your parents work in or near that career, too, so you have connections…

…then you are apparently incomprehensible and will never get a foothold in society because you do not exactly fit the mold! And you should have known before being born that this is what you wanted to do, after all. Didn’t do Tzahal (because we didn’t let you because your background seemed “weird”)? Career changer? Immigrant? All three????? Kill yourself. Oh, but also, if you’ve ever seen a doctor or a therapist, you cannot be trusted. We only employ people who deal with their issues silently. Those people are much more reliable, you see. Don’t know why the suicide rate among young people and lone soldiers is so high. It’s a mystery.
