They seem to be oblivious to all this winter.
“A writer out of loneliness is trying to communicate like a distant star sending signals. He isn’t telling, teaching, or ordering. Rather, he seeks to establish a relationship of meaning, of feeling, of observing. We are lonesome animals. We spend all our lives trying to be less lonesome.”
- John Steinbeck
I watched THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT again today. I love that movie. George Segal quirky & funny (although his character is pretty mean). Robert Klein and Roz Kelly (remember her as Pinky on HAAPY DAYS?) are good as are all the small parts.
It was the 10th highest-grossing film of 1970. It was directed by Herb Ross.
Barbra Streisand received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, her 3rd in this category. She also ranked 2nd place in Laurel Award for Best Comedy Performance, Female. George Segal also ranked 2nd place in National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor. Buck Henry was nominated for Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Adapted from Another Medium.

It’s on Amazon Prime. Check it out.
But I still don’t know why it’s titled that or if it has anything to do with the children’s book.
The screenplay, written by Buck Henry, was based on a stage play by Bill Manhoff. In the stage version, the would-be writer and the would-be actress are the only characters. Though the race of the characters is not specified in the script of the play, in the original Broadway production (1964–65), the “Owl” was played by white actor Alan Alda and the “Pussycat” by black actress/singer Diana Sands, and many subsequent productions followed this precedent.
I also like the music by Blood, Sweat & Tears.

One of my favorites of her movies. She was good at comedy.

“We Are All Dying” is a depressing title for a post. Sorry about that. I’m not the first tp think that we might be dying every day instead of living.

I was surprised to find that today there are still “Flat Earthers,” considering that the globe concept of Earth has been known since antiquity.

This morning was the last total lunar eclipse visible anywhere on Earth until New Year’s Eve 2028. #lunareclipse

The March Full Moon carries a variety of names, but “Chaste Moon” is one of the most poetic—and misunderstood—titles in the lunar calendar.
