“É estranho. Eu fui inspirada por muitas coisas. As letras eram realmente sobre coisas da minha juventude em uma cidade muito pequena, eu estava em Little Rock e tudo mais, e me sentia muito diferente de todos ao meu redor, tornou-se algo realmente evidente, e lugares como escola e igreja, eu apenas sentia que ninguém conseguia falar o que eu precisava ouvir, eu acho. Você quer a verdade, quer respostas reais, o significado da vida, e consegue apenas coisas fáceis de digerir, então… Não sei, acho que a música é sobre crescer e perceber que você tem que encontrar as respostas e não ouvir todos que você acha que sabem do que estão falando. Mas sim, Terry e eu escrevemos a música bem cedo pela manhã, quando estávamos escrevendo o The Open Door e eu sempre me lembro de estar escrevendo e ficando muito empolgada com essa música e pensei que seria o primeiro single e, tipo, que era a melhor música do mundo e… sei lá, comendo muita comida e apenas sendo estúpidos.
