Today’s Starlost Stormridden Right just be my favorite and here’s my Ted talk about why

Also disclaimer, this is all speculation and I could be VERY wrong, take what I say with a grain of salt

Spoilers for Starlost Stormridden ep48 under cut

So immediately the title and thumbnail because every Friday I come looking for my weekly (minus the first Monday) dnd ep I audibly gasp and say “Noah you cooked with this one” but this one, truly Noah did cook with.

The title though, fundamentally as a hook to pull people into the content, is very functional in my opinion, but it also summarizes what the episode just surrounds, and that is very hard to do with an actual play, unscripted story.

The episode its self was very involved on all players parts, the only one who played more of a back seat this time was K (Bella) (again in my opinion) but I also do think Bella was a pivotal character and insights were still made that pertained to her.

Specifically with the topic of today’s episode and her more back seat role could say a lot about her character. Bella as a character and what her plays to the party’s dynamic acts as a mediator, a kind of base line, and inherently a leader. Bella is very conscious about who she is, what she wants and what her morals are, she does not even need to question if she is or is not a person, yet in her battle style and behavior actively contradicts what she is for the party in the heat of battle, a wall.

Bella insists that if it were to come down to it, she would be the one to fall if it meant her party got out of things alive. She only sees purpose when she is being a shield, and subsequently, not a person. But outside of battle, when she is not needed to be the person to take the hits, she is very sure of herself and what she does, which makes sense in the episode that actively is all the other characters exploring whether or not they consider themselves a person, Bella is not a larger focus. (But she’s still important as a character, I love our southern Bell-a)

Now Vayne, OOH VAYNE (I fear he is my favorite character but that’s beside the point, I cannot feed Noah’s ego anymore or he will turn into Vayne) This episode is genuinely the most We have like TRUELY learned about Vayne and how he is, how he functions as a person, and how his secret smugglers genetically modifying society functions.

Vayne, with the gaining of his Tethiary core, in turn lost most of the memories of before he had it, being told that “it would damage his psyche too much if he could remember” and was subsequently trained to (what I assume) be a weapon. Having most, if not all, of his emotions trained down to the point of he doesn’t feel them (maybe at all or maybe only little bits, but enough to need to emulate what a normal person would act like.)

Meaning Vayne, besides his stupid smile which he insists is “the only thing they let him keep” is all an estimation based on what he has observed, which makes his tethiary abilities that much more ironic, as Vayne, the guy who can magically connect with any living thing he can see and feel their heartbeat and hypothetically can share magical effects later down the line doesn’t actually feel emotions all that much makes for quite the experience.

All to say the sociopathic guy who can connect with what is theoretically peoples life force and possibly soul, who was specifically trained to not let himself feel any emotions (and probably be a living weapon) might of been trained to withstand and ignore the emotions of those he tethered with. So I think it would be funny if Noah or Chryo haven’t thought of it yet that Vayne just starts feeling the emotions of those he tethers to at a higher level of tethiary (I’m thinking like blue diamond sadness aura style but just with one guy and he’s the one feeling it and the other guy is just really confused because, why am I feeling just… empty after this guy just cast some weird thing on me?????)

And the Crowned being his organization that he’s connected too and not something to do with his weird past life dream stuff, is very interesting. Nearly definitely knows stuff about Vayne but is not allowed to tell him. Nearly being his handler is also very interesting wording, because he’s not Vayne’s boss, or higher up or even informant, not he’s his Handler, like Vayne is an animal, or a living weapon. And Warren was also Vayne’s Handler, the only one Vayne either can or bothered to remember.

There was so much information in that like first half hour of the episode about Vayne and I honestly feel like I just need to go through and rewatch to true absorb all the information dropped this ep.

Selach and Etalan’s extended but from last time about if the effort is worth the goal, of the pain is worth the pleasure and if she cannot feel either than is Etalan truly a person also fits right in with the theming this episode. Etalan and Selach, at least to me are two sides of the same coin, Selach is someone who used to be a person, but due to events in his life, may not consider himself one anymore, he may consider himself more monster than man, while Etalan was built to not be a person, to be a thing, a tool used, but was fundamentally build different so that she could become a person, but she is lacking key elements she feels she need to be a person. So, they are both stuck in the person-nonperson limbo, yet they both hold so much humanity is their existence that they both are fundamentally a person.

Runava, the girl who cannot stay dead, not trusting others with her personal hood because they will just die. So without those who could stick around long enough to be significant to her she looses sight of is she even thinks herself to be a person, when all those around her think she is. Like Runava, I struggle to bring to words what her scenes in this episode made me feel, but man did some banger lines come up. Had me kicking my feet like a teenage girl talking about her crush. I think now with an easier way to communicate her feelings via detect thoughts true two way friendships will finally start forming and not just reminders of people she knew and still knows.

And then what ever is going on with Rittz. Like we know bro is either dying and coming back with no memory or is split and fragmented ( my personal theory with all the mirror imagery going around Rittz) but that’s really all we know. I think though after this we’ll finally start following more of the Rittz side plot of where in the world is Rittz’s wife. Some higher power is connected the party (maybe even multiple powers) as even across Cloudbreach Vayne and Bella were affected.

I am just a little upset that next Friday is the first Friday of the month meaning no Starlost Seas, but I shall live… hopefully.

TLDR; Newest episode had very cool information dropped about a lot of the characters, side character specific plots are progressing, and what the hell is wrong with Rittz Riddidle Redaddle (Senior?)
