Today is my first day of intermittent fasting. Woohoo! Something new and good for my body! I always thought that eating something light every 2-3 hours was the way to do it, but I have found that to be completely wrong and far from what is actually good. With intermittent fasting, my body will be able to burn my stored food energy while in the fast state verses burning the incoming food energy while in the fed state. It will allow more time for my body to use up what I have stored, which results in weight loss and restoring balance.

I know a few people that have done intermittent fasting and my response was always, “I could never do that! I get hangry when I don’t eat.” Turns out, I get hangry because I’m not eating the right foods that my body needs for healthy function and I don’t eat when I should. I decided to do the 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule, which means not eating for 16 hours and then allowing myself an 8 hour window to consume the food I need. For my lifestyle, my eating window would work best from noon to 8pm.

To break my fast today, I prepared a two-egg kale omelete, two slices of bacon, and kimchi. For snacks in the afternoon, I had a serving of almonds and some carrots and hummus when I got hungry. I had cilantro lime chicken with roasted sweet potatoes and sautéed broccoli for dinner. I decided to get back into meal prepping to make this transition as smooth and easy as possible. Then I ended my eating window with plain whole milk yogurt and chia seeds. It was a successful first day and I thank the Lord for giving me the strength and determination.😊
