Happy National Teacher’s Appreciation Day to all our awesome educators - the faculty and staff of our local schools!🍎🥳
You know, growing up I used to play with modeling clay A LOT. I would often mold figures with clay -anything, really, that my mind could imagine (thanks to my mom who would buy me so much of them 😂). Although I’ve grown out of playing with clay, it remains an important part of my life as it continually reminds me of what educators do everyday in their classroom: they MOLD.
They MOLD future teachers, counselors, and staff that will work in our schools in a few years’ time.
They MOLD future doctors, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, and everyone else that will staff our hospitals in the long run.
They MOLD future frontliners -from police officers to firefighters, to security guards, to army personnel, the marine corps, navy sailors, airforce and coast guard -everyone who has a stake in ensuring the security of our Commonwealth and this Nation.
Yes, they even MOLD future priests and pastors in the same way they MOLD our future public servants -our future legislators and senators, and even our future governors and lieutenant governors. Somewhere out there, a teacher is MOLDING the future president.
That’s our job… to MOLD, and we do it with LOVE, we do it with GRIT, and we certainly do it with PASSION. We do it because we were likewise MOLDED for this purpose.
So THANK YOU to our educators -past and present, so many of them continue to inspire me… THANK YOU to our educators who, despite the challenges brought by these past few months and weeks, are still working and communicating with their students. THANK YOU to our catechists as well, who teach the beauty of our our faith to our children. Many of them might not have a degree in education, but best believe that they, too, are educators at heart. And THANK YOU to our future educators, those that are studying and preparing for this field. THANK YOU for being BRAVE, for being COURAGEOUS, for being DARING to choose this path.
The future is in our hands, and it starts in our classroom.
