making Andrew break up with Mellie was legitimately one of the cruelest things Fitz did to her legitimately.

like it might not seem all that significant but let’s think about it:

For Fitz to win, Mellie cannot leave him on the trail and will probably have to stay with him through the second term (so far as we know in Season Three). Fitz is actively having an affair with Olivia, and has made it clear that he does not care about Mellie, and may in fact hate her. This means, he has effectively decided unilaterally that Mellie should suffer in silence the rest of his presidency. She has no one else, Fitz will barely speak to her, he will not even let her have this one thing.

like I’m not putting this well, but essentially it’s total forced isolation. He wants her to just sit there and wait for him while he sleeps with another women (which she at this point is just letting him do! he has everything he wants!) and he won’t even let her have someone that makes her happy. Honestly it’s just sad.

s4 where mellitz is a team is my favorite thing!!!

i didn’t have anything against the FBI director lady as a character but she and fitz together? the random chicks he was sleeping with was fine because that wasn’t a relationship, but he was in a whole relationship with the FBI director lady… it’s like if fitz isn’t with Olivia, the only other woman i’d want him with is mellie and if not with mellie, then OLIVIA… otherwise i don’t want anything else, take it back…

i LOVE this stage in season 4 when mellie and fitz are partners and a team and them trusting each other and helping each other, while mellie was open/semi-supportive about olivia and they knew they wouldn’t have the romantic part of their marriage back but they could still be a team… idk i loved it a lot…

Melody ‘Mellie’ Grant sighed softly as the sunlight streamed in to the large and luxurious bedroom, her eyes fluttering open slowly. Turning her head to the right a little, her gaze fell upon the sleeping form of her handsome husband. Even now, the word sounded strange and foreign to Mellie, but she knew that eventually it would all be worth it. She sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed as she caught sight of her reflection in the vanity mirror, laughing softly at the sight of her messy bun and slightly scruffy pajama top. Unpinning her hair, Mellie shook it out and ran her fingers gently through the curls. 

She had planned to get up early and start on the small case file that sat on her desk, but instead she lay back down on to the plush mattress and rolled over so that she was facing her husband and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.

“Good morning, Fitzgerald,” She murmured as she ran a finger along his chiseled so many months, he was still Fitzgerald to her. Never ‘Fitz’. Certainly never ‘Fitzy’. Maybe one day she would call him ‘honey’ or even ‘baby’. Mellie preferred that one more over the others because she could make it sound sexy and throaty.Not that she’d been practicing! “How does breakfast in bed sound?”

Mellie looked so damn beautiful this episode. And that Mellie/Fitz scene was actually so good, they looked so coupley. I was lowkey shipping them again until I remembered Fitz is The Worst™ & came to my senses.
