Yesterday, I got in a couple of amazing little acrylic boxes from an Etsy seller that are perfect for (some) Nendoroid Playsets.

Here’s the same photo on MFC, if you want to check it out there.

Some THING is happening

I think I’m hilarious. Saw this bad boy at Walmart and I couldn’t help myself. Now don’t get me wrong, NECA figures are NOT cheap by any means but seeing them in stores at something way more affordable than what scalpers want? Is everything.

He’s actually the best articulated figure I have yet. He moves wonderfully! There’s no point of him that’s particularly hard to move. His arms are a bit stiff but move better then the best of my other figures.

LOOK AT THIS HE CAN SIT DOWN FULLY ! Not a Angel trick or anything he’s actually sitting!

More Captain America

This is the new Captain America figure from the Marvel Legends line specifically the Disney+ wave. His flight pack is the build a figure part for the series. The wings, Redwing and a stand are packaged with six other figures.

Sauron is the build a figure from a Deadpool wave. You can read about him in Sauron review post.

Stand Suggestions

I need to find some figure stand to better photograph…

I like how this table display used the cubes commonly seen in artist alley as a nice, clean figure display.

Collecting is more than hunting down and buying - there’s the displaying part too! And this is where you can put the effort and give it your personal signature.

For my beloved Q Posket collection, I decided to make a set of ‘stairs’ for the ever-growing Disney crew, the biggest part of the collection. I will eventually do the same for the Petits and the rest of them (except the Sailor Moon ones and a few repeats, that live at my parents’), but this part of the display, as the biggest, was the most challenging.

For this project I used materials I had around, namely the cardboard boxes my IKEA Billy shelves came in.

I measured what I wanted and cut two pieces meant to be folded as four-side prisms. I came out with better arrangements later, but what’s done is done.

Since this display is temporary (as in, I don’t think it will come with the figures and me next time we move), I used tape to put it together:

image

I traced the final shape on another cardboard piece (from some other stuff, maybe furniture too?) to cut the side pieces:

Since I fucked up the measurements, I had to add two end pieces per side to make up for the missing millimeters instead of just one to secure the shape:

With a total of four side pieces, the fit was perfect:

I repeated the process with the taller step. It turns out that I measured its height wrong too (wtf, Gal) and the figures did not have enough room to stand on it, so I had to cut the tape, cut some of the pieces shorter, and rebuild the step.

So now the steps of the stair are uneven; on one hand, that’s bad because it looks weird and unbalanced (some figures get better exposure than the others), on the other hand, it was a happy accident, since the height difference is just perfect for Tinkerbell to stand on the middle row without the stairs interfering with her wings (not pictured because I realised later).

Since the prisms are not perfectly even, I made several tests until I found the perfect positioning of the steps.

Then, for them to match the shelves, I wrapped them with wrapping paper. I used silver paper face-down; not the best idea, because it was delicate and wrinkled/frayed easily:

And that was it!

On a side note, I’m really thankful to Banpresto for giving all these girls bloomers. When I had them displayed at eye level, I considered them a luxurious detail, but now that they are displayed so high…

… they are a necessity.

Also, the first row is narrower than the other two. I kind of expected it, given the way I measured it, but it means that not every figure fits in the front row.

My nerd shit shelf version 2.0: “I also read books with words” edition!

…and yes, I am aware that I have too many fucking horse toys.

that totally depends on where you ca keeping your figures stored.

If you are keeping them on shelves, i recommend using an air blower that you usually use for laptop keyboards. it’s safe and usually not strong enough to nock them down.

some people use detolfs, if you are using detolfs i would recommend when think about the lighting remember that light attracts dust so again keep cleaning with wetnap or as i stated above air cans.

what i personally do twice a month is rotate figures on and off display. keeps my displays fresh and uses less air cans.

although lately I have been too busy. thanks for asking!

So it seems that I’m running out of space on my teeny tiny bookshelf to display all my books and figures. (┳◇┳)

I was wondering if any of you guys have some recommendations for a large, sturdy bookshelf or something to display ones figures or books. ^^“ ?
