Samsung brevetta un pieghevole con schermo rotondo: ecco come sarà
Uno smartphone pieghevole Samsung con due display, di cui uno perfettamente circolare. No, non è un concept uscito da qualche studio di design futuristico. È tutto nero su bianco in un brevetto depositato dall'azienda sudcoreana, che ancora una volta dimostra di voler spingere i confini del formato a conchiglia ben oltre quello che conosciamo oggi.
Due schermi, due mondi diversi
Il documento tecnico, corredato da diversi schizzi progettuali, descrive un dispositivo flip (il classico formato a conchiglia, per intenderci) che sulla parte esterna integra un display rotondo. Una scelta che rompe completamente con la tradizione dei cover screen rettangolari o quadrati che abbiamo visto finora sui vari Galaxy Z Flip. Il display interno, quello principale, mantiene invece il formato pieghevole verticale ormai consolidato, pensato per offrire l'esperienza completa quando il telefono viene aperto.
La cosa interessante è che Samsung non si limita a buttare lì un'idea vaga. Gli schizzi contenuti nel brevetto mostrano con una certa precisione come lo schermo circolare dovrebbe integrarsi nel design complessivo del dispositivo. Viene quasi da pensare a un orologio incastonato nella scocca posteriore dello smartphone pieghevole, un elemento che richiama in modo piuttosto evidente l'estetica della linea Galaxy Watch.
Cosa significa davvero questo brevetto
Ora, prima che qualcuno corra a preordinare qualcosa: un brevetto Samsung non equivale a un prodotto in arrivo. Le grandi aziende tech depositano centinaia di brevetti ogni anno, e la stragrande maggioranza non diventa mai un dispositivo reale. È una pratica comune per proteggere proprietà intellettuale e tenere aperte le opzioni per il futuro. Detto questo, il fatto che Samsung stia esplorando formati così radicalmente diversi per i propri smartphone pieghevoli racconta qualcosa di significativo sulla direzione che l'azienda vuole prendere.
Il mercato dei foldable sta maturando rapidamente, e la differenziazione diventa sempre più cruciale. Dopo anni in cui il formato a conchiglia si è evoluto soprattutto in termini di dimensioni del display esterno (sempre più grande, sempre più funzionale), un approccio circolare rappresenterebbe un cambio di paradigma estetico notevole. Potrebbe trasformare il cover screen in qualcosa di più simile a un widget sempre visibile, ottimizzato per notifiche rapide, stato della batteria, ora e magari complicazioni in stile smartwatch.
Samsung d'altronde ha già dimostrato con il Galaxy Z Flip 6 di voler rendere il display esterno sempre più centrale nell'esperienza d'uso quotidiana. Uno schermo rotondo porterebbe questa filosofia a un livello completamente nuovo, fondendo il linguaggio visivo degli orologi intelligenti con quello degli smartphone pieghevoli in un unico oggetto.
Resta da capire se e quando qualcosa del genere potrà effettivamente arrivare sul mercato. Ma il messaggio che arriva da questo brevetto è chiaro: Samsung non ha alcuna intenzione di sedersi sugli allori nel segmento dei pieghevoli, e continua a sperimentare forme che fino a poco tempo fa sarebbero sembrate fantascienza.

BenQ’s new Mac monitor could be a cheaper alternative to Apple’s new Studio Display
The BenQ MA270S will be available through the company’s online store and retailers including Amazon this month for $999, making it $600 cheaper than Apple’s new $1,599 Studio Display. However, it’s not quite as fully-featured as Apple’s latest monitor.
