Iguana Stare-down
A large iguana is basking in the sunlight on a grassy area, surrounded by scattered natural debris and bursts of greenery. The iguana’s vibrant colors stand out against the green grassy background.
This large iguana is basking on the ground near a bushy shady spot, that would also be the getaway route, but seems to have no fear when I got very near. The bright orange dewlap shows the relative older age of this large cold-blooded lizard.
These iguana are an invasive species and are typically considered a nuisance in Florida. This one was basking at the Ruth Bryan Owen Waterway Park, on Bird Road in Coral Gables.
