I dropped of my 5th-grader at school today, for the first of five consecutive days where one-half of their day will be taken up with the “Smarter” “Balanced” assessment. Actually I should put “assessment” in quotes too cause it doesn’t accurately measure or assess anything. Just a waste of time and $$$$$$
She’ll be reading in the library or helping in the little kids’ classroom. OR if someone who highly values standardiazation decides to punish her / me for Opting Out, it’ll be 2 hours of busy work just as asinine as the SBAC nonsense. We’ll see at 3!

It was an honor to meet the accomplished, powerful, distinguished, and elegant ladies of Delta Sigma Theta, and their families at the movie theater!
This is where community organization meets the arts with a purpose. This local sorority chapter, the South Broward Alumnae Chapter, organized a viewing of the new noteworthy movie chronicling the life of the major iconic African American legal trailblazer on the United States Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall. See synopsis below.
Along with myself, this organization and the members as individuals, believe in and support mentoring the youth to direct them into purposeful futures. Tonight’s event is one of many community activities which allow us to remember our rich and challenging history. As often stated, we must remember where we come from to know where we are going.
