At 15 (expressive about my “unusual” interests and being labeled as weird)

“How dare you think I’m weird for liking unconventional things?? You just don’t have taste”

At 25 (less expressive about my “unusual” interests)

“How dare you see me as a normal functioning adult?”

Ginger my friend said,
I think there is more.
The sun’s in the sky,
And we’re keeping score …

Every opportunity isn’t disguised as a blessing

Alternate motives may go unnoticed

As time moves on different traits start showing

Problem? What problem?

It occurs to me I never got to the bit in the previous post that might have made it seem like I was being petty. The thing that kicked off my nine-hundred and fifty word rant, although rant feels like too strong a word to use for whatever that was.

What exactly is the difference between misdescribing something like a star and misdescribing something like a pain? Why does the former seem obviously possible and the latter unimaginable? Perhaps the answer goes something like this. We expect the star to look the same even after we realize that it is a faraway ball of flame rather than a nearby hole, but the pain ought to feel different once we realize that it is a stimulated C-fiber, for the pain *is* a feeling, as the star is *not* a visual appearance.
