Apparently everyone in my immediate family including the dog took long naps so I feel less bad for sleeping all day.

I just want to take a nap in a soft grassy field with nice breeze and no worry in the world.

So despite sleeping for 9.5 hours last night I felt very sleepy still so I decided to nap for an hour this afternoon and I’m pretty sure I fell asleep within a minute but I was dreaming about needing to go to sleep so I thought that I wasn’t napping. Then my alarm went off and I did wake up but just calmly moved my hand to turn it off and kept lying in the same position thinking I wasn’t falling asleep anyway but did fall back asleep immediately and started dreaming about doing normal things I do.

What made me notice was in my dream I was on Instagram and looking at stories but they all were ads for some water park that was saying today was the last day of August and tomorrow kids would go back to school so now’s the time for the water park. And I was like 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Then I thought to myself “this doesn’t seem right. I’m dreaming. I’m still asleep. I was supposed to be awake now.” And jolted awake.😅

So that was my 1.5 hour nap to add to my 9.5 hour sleep for a grand total of 11 hours of sleep today. I definitely feel less tired but I hope I can go to sleep tonight.

I love train naps. You drift off and you open your eyes one hour later and you’re somewhere else. It’s like falling asleep in the car as a kid.

sleep is so weird if you actually think about it.

like every single night we just… power down. voluntarily. we lay there in the dark and hallucinate for 6–8 hours and call it “rest.” who designed this system. i would like to speak to management.

and the thing is, sleep is both the best thing ever and the absolute worst. when you need it? suddenly your brain is hosting a TED talk about that one embarassing thing you did in 2014. but when you dont need it? congrats you’re passing out at 3pm like a victorian child with “mystery illness.”

also why do dreams feel SO real. i will wake up genuinely mad at someone because dream-them was rude to me. like sorry you cheated on me in a scenario my unconcious made up?? explain that.

and naps?? naps are a gamble. you either wake up reborn, glowing, moisturized, thriving. or you wake up in the wrong decade, dehydrated, heart racing, convinced you’ve missed something important. there is no inbetween.

don’t even get me started on alarm clocks. the violence. the audacity. being yanked out of a perfectly good dream because capitalism says so. cruel. unusual. probably illegal in some dimention.

anyway i love sleep. i hate sleep. i would like 12 hours every night but my body says no and my responsibilities say absolutely not. if anyone figures out how to feel rested without actually sleeping pls share your secrets. i am tired in ways that are spiritual and also biological.
