Also I just wanna say this now: I’m not a hater of disney Star Wars canon. 8 is my fav of the sequels and I resonate a LOT with Rey Skywalker (yes, Skywalker! dont know if that’s controversial to say here, yet.) but I greatly prefer what I’ve read so far in the EU in regards to Luke and my interpretation of the Jedi Order post VI.
This doesn’t mean that post VI canon for what happens to Luke is invalid - I understand what is trying to be stated with that version of the character and I think it works for that universe. With that being said, I resonate a lot more with the version presented in EU. So, please don’t expect me to hate on one and not the other.

No More Training Do You Require (Except When You Do)
🎬 So Luke shows up in Return of the Jedi, right? He’s back on Dagobah — robes, confidence, the whole thing — “Master Yoda, I’ve come back to complete my training.”
And Yoda, half-asleep under the blanket, goes, “No more training do you require.”
Luke lights right up: “Wow — that’s a load off! Because when I was all, ‘I gotta go help my friends,’ you were like, ‘No! Not ready! Must complete the training!’ But now — this is great! Whole new spin on things! I guess I am a Jedi. Sure, I lost a hand, but hey — to make an omelette you gotta break a few eggs, right?”
Then Yoda starts coughing, “Not yet. One thing remains… you must face Vader.”
Luke stops mid-celebration. “Wait, what? But I just did! That was the omelette! I’m missing an egg — literally!”
He leans closer. “By the way, is he… my father?”
Yoda tugs the blanket tighter. “Rest I need.”
Luke’s like, “No, no, no — put the blankey down. I need clarity, not nap time.”
Yoda groans, “Told you did he? Unfortunate this is.”
Luke: “Unfortunate that I know the truth?”
Yoda: “No… unfortunate that you rushed to face him… when incomplete was your training.”
Luke stares. “Oh, so we’re back to incomplete training thing? You just said no more training! Pick a lane, Master! You know what, you can still change your mind before Hasbro designs a cuter, younger version of you.”
But Yoda’s already curling deeper into the blanket, mumbling about twilight and destiny.
Luke throws his hands up. “You know what, I’m done. I hope they explain this in a Disney+ spinoff — Jedi Logic: The Series. Episode one: ‘Contradictions of the Force.’”
