😎 One of my favorites! 👍🏼
Im honstly not sure who’s supposed to be the homelander here since depending on the scaling you buy for both it can honestly be either but seeing as im a lore believer i believe kratos takes this by pure physical force and having hax to ignore the entire anglic steel thing
Now as to whether or not Lucifer has any wincons or even anyway to stalemate eh not really but yes?
If he could somehow convince kratos to enter into a binding soul contract with him that would be wraps for kratos since then lucifer could order him around as his subordinate or shred his soul
But kratos already knows selling his soul is a bad idea (pretty much his entire existence is a cautionary tale of not selling your soul to gods) and Lucifer is nowhere near manipulative enough to convince kratos he is different then other gods and that he can be trusted with kratos soul
The other wincon would be destroying the planet they are on it won’t kill kratos but he can’t really freely fly across space to deck Lucifer so he can just leave him hanging in space forever or till kratos collides with some other planet a few million years from now at which point he’d probably come knocking again but that’s a problem for future Lucifer
Tl;dr:while Lucifer technically has ways to win unless kratos loses every brain cell or Lucifer immediately crashs out on the entire planet he Likey gets his shit rocked horribly
Back onto Avatar nonsense, if at the start of god of war 3, what if the gods just jumped Kratos with the avatar state
Poseidon has water obviously

Then Helios with his fire

Zeus has lightning

Hermes with his…element of speed, which is an element, ask ninjago

Hades with his element of being “the wife guy”

So, my point. If at the start of the game, all five of them just jumped Kratos. What would he actually do?? Soul taken by Hades stunning him, hit by electricity and tidal waves, kicked in the balls at 100 mph and blinded by the sun. He’d be dead. He’d lose. Why are the gods so dumb

I don’t think I’ve spoken about this much on here but I f*cking love Greek Mythology. It’s the stuff all of the best comic books are made of. Heroes, monsters, pathos; just straight up dope fun! I’ve loved this sh*t since I was a wee lil’ Smokey, lost in the stocks of my local library as a kid, where I stumbled upon a book titled D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths. Now, I was already familiar with some of the more common tales and, indeed, had already developed my lifelong fascination with Medusa thanks to the original Clash of the Titans, but this book changed me entire perspective on those tall tales. There were so many new narratives, so many more yarns I had never experienced, until I found this ledger. Plus, this thing was riddled with dope ass art that paid homage to those old Greco-Roman frescoes. I loved the f*ck out of this thing and it stayed in my possession for months at a time. I kept it checked out. That book spring boarded me into the world of religion and mythology which has endured to this day. I’ve studied Egyptian myth extensively and got into the Viking lore thanks to the likes of Fate. I stumbled into the Sumerian mythology narrative while trying to find the “why” behind Christianity and realized that sh*t, on its own, is a dope story to be told. Like, I can’t stand religion but I kind of adore it’s grandiose tales of war, redemption, and miracles. F*cking the Prince of Egypt is one of my favorite animated films of all-time. You can’t tell me Deliver Us don’t slap! I dipped my toe back into the world of Assassin’s creed because of Origins, but jumped headlong back into it when Odyssey released because, and say it with my now, Greek Mythology is Dope! Suffice it to day, God of War was basically targeting me directly.

That Olympus arc was everything to me. Look, I can sit here and glaze the game play, the graphics, the f*cking mini-games, but I didn’t care about any of that. I mean, I did, those things are huge components of the game, but I jumped on the Ghost of Sparda train because of the world building. By the time that game released, I was basically an expert in all things Greek myth and I adored seeing how other people adapted the lore. God of War didn’t disappoint. Until that last game in the mainline trilogy. I did not carafe for how that first arc concluded. It was kind of anticlimactic in a sense, you know? After you drive that sword into Zeus and stand atop a burning Mount Olympus, I just felt meh. After three games of trials, dying that one time, crawling my way back up from hell riding the back of Gaia, herself, just kind of stabbing Zeus to death felt… lame. But the ride to that point was everything. What Santa Monica Studios did with the Greek myth lore was incredible. I loved their take on key opponents like the Hydra and how Pandora’s Box became the ultimate weapon against the gods. Athena’s characterization throughout the games was pitch perfect, even her “sudden” heel turn at the climax of that last game. Fantastic initial run that left me, overall, very satisfied. For a time, this trilogy was the definitive take on Greek myth for me until Assassin’s Creed Odyssey dropped. Kassandra’s tale felt a bit more like how I imagine those old epics would narratively play out. Plus, you know, ma is just Wonder Woman who also is heavily inspired by Greek Myth and happens to be my second favorite DC cape after Batman. Particularly Absolute but I’ve gushed about that several times on this blog, but now I’m getting distracted., but Kratos would eventually return several years later, in a land foreign to him, on a console for a new generation.

God of War dropped in the latter half of the Tens and blew everyone’s minds. This version of Kratos was brand new. He was old, grizzled, world-weary, and had a son. Atreus was his adoptive child, born to his long deceased wife Faye, both of whom happened to call Midgar home. That’s right, Kratos survived his genocide of the Olympian Pantheon, and found his way into the world of Norse Gods. Now, I enjoy the f*ck out of Viking myth. That sh*t is crazy brutal but, surprisingly earnest. Most of their gods aren’t, like, assholes and they generally don’t really interfere with mankind. At least I don’t think they do. Everything I’ve read on Norse mythology leads me to believe they treat their people like people and not cattle, which aligns more with the Greek position. Like, Zeus was an asshole who f*cked everything he could. Mans was a whole rapist but Odin doesn’t seem to be that way. Definitely could be wrong. Not anywhere near as well versed in Norse myth, but Odin doesn’t seem to be out here causing all the problems by slinging his dick about. The second take on God of War was incredible, for a lot of the same reasons as the first, but one thing stands out much more this second time around. The overall narrative is richer but that character work is everything! Kratos is older, wiser, calmer. He approaches things with the wisdom of a man who has lost everything, as opposed to the rage of a man who has lost everything. Don’t misunderstand me, that sh*t is definitely still there, but he has learned how to control it, focus it, and reconcile with it in an effort to be a better man for his new family. OG God of War was a tale of revenge and anger but new God of War is story built on redemption and love. It is in that difference this new take, this new world, finds it’s narrative footing and is so much better for it. Being on the PS4 initially also helps tremendously. F*cking game is easily top three in terms of playability, but just f*cking GORGEOUS, man!

It’s sequel Ragnarok, is just as great. Personally, I like the story more in the second but I’d be lying if I said it as a s character driven as the first. You spend a lot of time with this new Kratos and learn about his relationship with his son. Who ends up playing a MASSIVE role in the overall plot. My favorite character in the duology, Freya, gets a lot more screen time in the sequel, probably to make up for Atreus’ story, and I kind of love that for Kratos. Because of certain things which occur at the climax of that first game, they start the second off as reluctant enemies but, as they spend more time together, that icy malice melts away. It eventually becomes a warm ember of respect and friendship, leading to a spark that ignites a proper romance. I seriously love these to as a couple. It’s weird to say this about a man I literally controlled as he gouged the eyes out of Helios with his bare hands, Kratos and Freya are kind of adorable together. She matches him where he’s at now. You can kin of plot that growth through his wives in a way. Lysandra recognized the man behind the fury, Frey calmed the storm of his soul after he neutered the entire Greek Pantheon, and Freya meets him as he is at the presumed end of his tale; at peace with what he’s done, who he is, and looking forward to what his son will accomplish. I know this because we got SEE that closure happen in real time. Old Man Kratos literally gets to scold Young, Crazed, Kratos in Valhalla and it was incredible! The Ghost of Sparda’s second, arguably third, life is the best one he’s lived and he gets that happy end man’s never even believed was possible. So why are we f*cking it up with a goddamn Amazon Studios adaption??

Never mind the fact that we’re going to skip over a f*cking decade and a half of backstory, are we really confident the Norse duology can properly be told? Is Amazon going to invest the proper resources to do this thing justice? The Norse Duology is far more grounded than the Greek trilogy, but f*cking Jourmangandr exists! Amazon has proven adept at adapting games for film; Fallout is dope. But they’ve also stumbled in that effort; season two of Fallout is kind of bunk. That sh*t failed because there were too many characters to properly develop, too many story threads to extend, and season two came off as incomplete. The part which adapts that first Norse title will translate fine, I believe, but that second game? With all of the characters needed to make that engine go? Bro, there were only, like, four plot threads to tie up and that sh*t ended up closing one, and opening damn near a dozen more! And that’s JUST juggling four of them b*tches! Kratos’ crew has that many and then f*cking Atreus goes off on his own, only to add half a dozen more distinct to him. Releasing that AI developed “first look” doesn’t give me a ton of confidence about the overall visual direction either. That sh*t looks like cosplay. Decent cosplay, but something a super fan could create in their garage over the weekend from sh*t they sourced at a swap meet. I will note that casting seems solid so far, though. Dunno if they got Deborah Ann Woll to reprise as Faye, but they should since her model is based on the actress and she voices her in the games. I don’t know, man, this feels a little shifty at the moment. I don’t like the fact that Hollywood is boarding gaming for adaptions instead of just creating IPs. I hate that, when they do, Executives often neuter the f*ck out of the content or bastardize it all in an effort to appeal to a wider audience. I’ll definitely give this show a shot when it drops. The franchise deserves at least that much, but I’m definitely tepid about the entire production. Two decades ago, I’d have been hype about this but seeing how soulless Hollywood has become, anytime an adaption of a game I enjoy gets announced, I die a little bit inside.

BW Media Spotlight taps into a rumor about a new game for God Of War: How A Faye Story Could Work (But Not As A Full Game)
God Of War: How A Faye Story Could Work (But Not As A Full Game)
Amazon has slowly been teasing out casting details for its live-action adaptation of God of War, and now we have our first look at the show. It’s a single image but a notable one showing protagonist Kratos and his son Atreus. The characters are played by Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson, respectively, and they look relatively close to their video game counterparts.
There aren’t a lot of other…
