When anyone has a good work ethic, they hold the belief that it is
important to work hard. It is associated with an attitude of
determination and dedication to one’s work.
It is usually based on a set of values, manifested by our
determination to want to succeed and to work hard. Like everything we
have to learn, but with a steely determination and staying power and a
good work ethic should always pay off.
From our first human interactions as toddlers, we are taught by our
parents through involuntary learning opportunities, what is acceptable
at home and in social settings, whether that’s doing chores in the
house, or in school around our peers.
A good work ethic enables us to carry out our duties with a good
moral attitude, that includes responsibility, integrity, humility, and a
good discipline. It is never acceptable to work in a self-interested
manner, with no regard to the social impact.
If parents have a good work ethic, we will have one too and even if
they don’t, with a different attitude from us, we can learn to have one.
Having a good work ethic will replicate in more personal areas of
your life too, where you will choose to give of your best. In a world
that is changing, and not always for the better, perhaps it is important
we think about that.
