As a young preacher, James 1:18-27 was one of the first sections of Scripture I memorized. James is a practical book, and I was using a Dickson study Bible given to me by Wendell Winkler and the Bible Department at Faulkner University upon my graduation. The study Bible was in the King James Version, the version I had grown up with. The Elizabethan English and archaic words made…

ALTYears in crisis rooms taught me ego and spectacle derail progress; quiet curiosity and restraint open paths to agreement. Brahimi’s career shows influence works by lowering the temperature and preserving dignity, not amplifying division. I try to leave pride at the door and ask questions that make people feel seen. How do you keep cool in heated talks? 🔍🤝

BLOOD 🩸— GOD WILL SURPRISE YOU BC YOU DIDNT DO THIS
I can’t find the video but basically it was this Chick-fil-A worker she was wearing a red bandana and somebody splashed their food in her face. Their card declined and somebody else saw what happened to her and the man gave her $100. I don’t know if it was scripted or not but the whole point was the man recognized her humility. When he approached her, he asked what happened and then she said to him “it’s OK so some people have bad days” and she was just so calm about everything and I know that some of you have had to be that way or God is calling you to be that way. he’s gonna reward you for your humbleness.
My apologies. I thought that I saved it. sometimes I think I save posts and then I go back and it’s not there and so I’m sorry about that.
Also, this is what the good LORD is trying to teach you…. HUMILITY. Not everything deserves a response. The LORD is trying to teach you to be humble because going forward people are going to try and aggravate you for views, for the fact that you have a famous name etc and they’re just gonna try to drag your good name, and you cannot fall for the tactics of the enemy.
Think of gratitude as sunlight for your headspace. Life provides the soil, but your appreciation makes the garden actually bloom. Even in the weeds, there’s something striking to find if you’re looking. Take a mellow breath and acknowledge the good. It doesn’t change the world; it changes your world.
The best leaders are servants first and always, a principle that guided the life and work of Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba. In a world where leadership is too often associated with power, privilege, and personal gain, Lumumba stands out as a voice of integrity, service, and moral clarity. For him, leadership is not a platform for self‑glory but a responsibility to uplift others, to speak…
Humility isn’t about thinking poorly of yourself; it’s just thinking of yourself less. True confidence is the key that unlocks that door. Once you’ve settled the “Am I good enough?” debate internally, you stop using every conversation as a mirror to check your own reflection. You flip the mirror and start looking at the world instead.
This outward focus is the essence of a humble life. You…

(Grace Behind Bars (GBB) – Day 9)
In the last GBB post, we lingered with Paul’s invitation to humility as self-forgetfulness. We spoke about the strange freedom that sometimes comes when the constant inner narration quiets — the voice asking, How am I doing? What do others think? Why can’t I get it together?
When that voice softens, even for a moment, something opens up inside us. Our attention…
