Captivity
Captive whumpee with vaginismus who’s only given access to tampons for menstrual care.
Today’s Scripture reading is 2 Chronicles 30-31. This is the first Bible study, based on 2 Chronicles 30. In his first year as king, Hezekiah set his heart on serving the LORD and on obeying His Law and Commandments (2 Chronicles 29:2).
In 2 Chronicles 30, the king sent messengers to call the people of Judah and Israel to come to Jerusalem to worship the LORD.
Me: The main goal is finishing Palimpsest. I’m so close to the end of Part One. But ugh, I don’t know how to finish this chapter … I guess I’ll work on another story and come back to it. I have some ideas for Captivity.
~18k words later~
Me: Okay, so this is … three chapters covering one day’s events? Hmmm. Well, I didn’t intend to do that. Oops. Guess I’ll start editing it.
Seriously, I don’t know if this is what people mean by “locked in”, but maybe. I definitely repeatedly lost track of time and the fact my body existed.
I just wish I could routinely call upon this level of … hyperfixation, I guess. Also, aim it. I used to be able to before the autoimmune. It’s why we always ended up with A’s. But, uh, the autoimmune could have been partly caused by the workaholic tendencies. Barely sleeping is bad for you.

“Are you okay like this?” Caretaker whispered as they tried to settle on the cold, concrete floor of the basement. Whumpee was snuggled up to them, trying to share body heat.
“Yeah,” they whispered back. “I’m good.”
“I’m not pressing on any injuries?”
“No. Really. This is good.”
[[MORE]]“Okay.” Caretaker gingerly wrapped an arm around Whumpee to pull them even closer. It was really cold. Their breaths showed up as little white puffs whenever they exhaled. “We’ll get out of here, you know. I’m working on a plan. I just need a little more time.”
“Okay,” Whumpee said, full of trust. Caretaker wasn’t sure they really deserved that trust. “For now, I’m okay, even like this.”
“None of this is okay.”
“I know. I’m just saying… For now, we’re not hurt, my injuries are healing, and you’re warm. Maybe my expectations have just been lowered, but I feel okay.”
“Well… I’m glad, at least. Try to get some sleep.”
“Okay.” They buried their face in Caretaker’s chest and closed their eyes. “Good night, Caretaker.”
“Good night, Whumpee.”
—
When Whumper awoke, the first thing they did was check the cameras. Their two captives were huddled together on the floor, sleeping soundly. How cute. How stupid.
They got out of bed and got dressed, then went down to the basement. “Rise and shine!” they said as they opened the door, and both Whumpee and Caretaker jolted awake, pressing themselves against the far wall. They were still clinging to each other. “Have you bonded enough?”
“What?” Caretaker stammered.
“I hope you have, because it was the last time.” They pulled out a gun and aimed it right at Whumpee’s head. “Whumpee, stand up and come over here.”
“What?” Caretaker repeated, immediately putting themself between Whumper and Whumpee. The gun was now aimed at their head. “They’re not going anywhere.”
Whumper shrugged. “Okay. Then you come over here.”
“No!” Whumpee cried. “Caretaker, don’t go!”
“One of you is going to have to come. Unless, of course, you want me to start shooting.” Whumper cocked the gun. “I’m a lot of things, but patient is not one of them.”
“It’s okay,” Caretaker said, turning around to look Whumpee in the eye. “It’s okay. I’m gonna go. You stay right here. It’s going to be okay.”
Whumpee grabbed onto Caretaker’s hands. “Don’t go, please, don’t go!”
“I’m gonna count to three,” Whumper cut in.
“Hey, Whumpee, it’s okay,” Caretaker soothed.
“You said you had a plan,” Whumpee said, lowering their voice so Whumper wouldn’t hear — well, they heard. It wouldn’t have mattered either way, the hidden camera had already picked up that discussion the day before. “You said we would be fine.”
“One,” Whumper said.
“I do have a plan,” Caretaker whispered back. “We will be fine. Just trust me. I’m gonna go, but I’ll be back for you.”
“Two.”
“Caretaker, please, I can’t do it without you!”
“It’s okay, Whumpee.”
“Three.” Whumper gave a warning shot, and the bullet hit the wall a few centimetres from Whumpee and Caretaker’s heads. “Time’s up, lovebirds.”
Caretaker turned back around and stood on shaky legs. They walked over to Whumper, leaving behind a crying Whumpee. “We’re not lovebirds, you sick fuck,” they said.
“Doesn’t matter to me,” Whumper said with a shrug. “Come on, out the door you go. Up the stairs. I’m keeping you two separately from now on.” They shoved the gun in Caretaker’s back. “And don’t try anything. If you think I haven’t killed before, you need to rethink who I am.”
Whumper who has both Whumpee and Caretaker captive. They keep the two together most of the time so they can comfort each other etc. But Whumper has Whumpee choose whether each beating/assault/torture session happens privately or in front of Caretaker. (Of course, Whumper makes sure Caretaker is unable to intervene either way.)
Whumpee who has to decide whether giving up their last semblance of dignity and strength is worth having moral support in their worst moments. If they want Caretaker to fully understand what they’re going through or want to be able to control the narrative. If it would be better for Caretaker to suffer through the separation and uncertainty, or being forced to watch Whumpee being hurt.
“What do you think, Whumpee? Do you want them to watch?”
At the very beginning of Buried Depths, I wrote that Zach will have lost track of time before he next sees the sun. He’s managed to keep hold of the date so far.
In other words, a timeline of Zach’s imprisonment. (up to date at time of posting)

just posted the last chapter, so im striking it off the board

11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

Notes: Jeremiah 29:11-14 is God’s promise to Israel during their Babylonian exile, assuring them He has plans for their welfare, hope, and future, not disaster, even amidst suffering, and that if they seek Him wholeheartedly, He will restore them and answer their prayers, emphasizing deep trust and a changed heart over mere circumstances.
Whumpee manages to convince everyone that they weren’t held captive. They just needed a few weeks alone, nothing special. No one forced them.
It’s far from the truth. Whumpee was taken hostage, but they think everyone will think they’re weak if they admit they weren’t able to fight off whumper.
They shame themself for being weak, for having not been aware enough to notice whumper following them.
And they just want to tell someone. They want someone to know about the pain and humiliation they’ve been through, but there’s no one that they haven’t convinced that they’re fine.
They’re getting a little closer to admitting it each day. Maybe they’d have told someone eventually, but then they bolt awake from a nightmare in the common area, mind flooded by panic. Someone grabs them to try to calm them down, and they panic.
Someone is touching them. And is it the hands from their dream, is it their mind playing tricks on them because they swear they’re seeing their friend’s face, but it has to be whumper touching them because there’s no chance they got free.
And everything comes out. All their secrets pour out of them like a waterfall that doesn’t stop until every detail of their captivity has been drained out of them.

1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
Isaiah Foretells Babylonian Captivity
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men? and from where came they to you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country to me, even from Babylon. 4 Then said he, What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, said the LORD. 7 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
