Book Review #25 of 2026–
The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson. Rating: 4 stars.
Read on February 12th.
Another Calvin and Hobbes collection read. I’ve now read half of the collected works of Calvin and Hobbes. I’m read it out of order just based on what I can get my hands on. I’ve always been a big fan of this comic (especially Hobbes) and I still really enjoy the comic. The reason this has a lower rating for me than the others is that there’s way more of the Spaceman Spiff and Stupendous Man stories than I like. Those are my least favorite of the Calvin and Hobbes side stories. I love the P.I. alternative persona though. I still love Calvin’s dad and Hobbes and how much they manage to outwit Calvin. The Revenge of the Babysat storyline was fun and actually reminded me a lot of a babysitter I’ve had. Though, I never locked her out of the house.
Overall, this was a good entry into the series. I’m excited to read more as they become available from my library.
