🕰️ 9:00am - 3:30pm
- adjusted the rubric I’m using to grade the first long essay to better match the prompt; made some changes to the prompt this time and they weren’t properly reflected in the rubric
- graded some of the long essays
- edited the template I made for students–had a revelation about a tool to better teach synthesis!
I realized something late last night: if I want to be able to do the things I don’t feel like doing (which is grading, because I hate grading) and I’m having trouble focusing to get it done, I just have to consider the comparative dopamine. If I start out my morning with stuff I want to do instead of things I have to do, I’m making it harder to put it down and move onto my task list because I’m going from HIGH dopamine to LOW. I flipped it today and I was so much more productive.

Log: I’ve caught up on sleep and looked back on some of these. I was going through it, evidently.
Work: I begin every work day by now going, “I can’t wait to come home to sleep,” but I fear that’s the average person.
Self-care: I’m counting sleep for this one – it looks like I have needed it.

Log: It looks like my sleep schedule has gotten fucked again, I haven’t slept yet and am currently taking a moment at work to type this out before midnight.
Work: Currently at it; completed my to-do list (…just the list) and plan to work on it after some sleep.
Self-care: Nothing. I am eternally suffering. If God exists, he knows me by name.
Reading: Nothing. I no longer value knowledge.

Log: Forgive my absence, I slept 13 to 14 hours to compensate for my lack of sleep. My “weekend” passed in a blur and it appears as though my sleep schedule is fucked once more. Well.
Work: Day off, though I did continue my game “campaign” with a collection of friends for a few hours. It was entirely typed out in a ‘choose your story’ style, which has been incredibly fun.
Self-care: Once again, does sleeping count?
Reading: A few of my friend’s online works.

Foreseeable challenge 1: I want to have the spirit have limited communication with Mel till they form a contract. This will be difficult as they have to work together to do that and are the only two speaking characters for however long that goes on, and I’m not experienced in writing.
Problem 2: Should probably name the spirit. They’re one of the most important characters and The Spirit (working title) probably isn’t gonna cut it.

– Was called in by DAMN to fix a few things, because who the hell needs a holiday?
– Fixed the automatic door to the front of the Psychokinetic building. Relatively simple fix, took about twenty minutes.
– Started work on that Earth Elemental Control practical room. I’ll start work on it next year, since Mark’ll kill me if I keep working on my off days-
– More emails from DUMP. Yes I know about password security. Yes I know about the importance of covert. Wonder if [REDACTED] gets them too.

Work log 2024.09.06
I’m sitting here feeling like I haven’t done enough today so I listed out what I’ve done:
1. Reviewed paperwork and submitted it to HR for 2 new faculty hires who were sent their formal offer letters yesterday.
2. Managed the meeting for anther faculty search committee reviewing 100+ applicants and cat herding them into selecting 8 for zoom interviews plus 3 alternates.
3. Wrote up the minutes for that meeting.
4. Called the search chair for the task listed in #1 to go over who they need to call to say they weren’t selected.
5. Filled out and submitted the candidate pool evaluation for Institutional Equity to review the results for the search listed in #2.
6. Met with IT and one of my directors about building access for IT in our zone.
7. Met with the director to review the plans for new card access points and security cameras for the building.
8. Met with HR for 45 minutes (unplanned) to go over upcoming focus processes, hiring details, faculty business title changes, and setting up a training session for department heads/deans about how to write position descriptions
9. Had a call with Space Administration about another area borrowing a room in the building for short term storage.
That was a lot. And this was a typical day. No wonder why I’m getting close to burnout.

Work Log #6
June 1st, 2024
First and foremost I’d like to start this work log by wishing all of you a cheerful Happy Pride Month. For those of you in the LGBTQ+ community including myself, may your pride month be filled with much love and support. Even to those of you who are not out yet for personal or safety reasons, you’re still as welcomed, loved and appreciated as everyone else.
Anyways, we here at Justice Reigns have plenty of events planned for Pride Month, including our annual pride month parade hosted on the 25th of June.
Additional info will be posted on the JR website so make sure to keep an eye on updates to our parade and if you’d like to volunteer, you can fill out an application via. the website as well.
As for my personal affairs, I can’t say I’ll have a lot of time to myself (as per usual), but I’ve scheduled in July to take some days off to finally relax for a bit. I know I’m definitely looking forward to that, and truly it’s a miracle that I even could find time within’ my schedule to do so but it’s been needed for quite some time.

i have until tomorrow morning to research and write a paper with a 2000-2400 word count. as of right now (14.30/2.30pm) i have 200 words in the document and it’s all disposition and planning. this should be interesting
this is the second of four papers i’ll have to write these next two weeks. paper 1, 2 and 4 are all due in two weeks. paper 3 is due on tuesday 11 am. i finished the first yesterday and have to start the next tomorrow to have even a chance of finishing it. let’s fucking go
