March 11. Fifteen years ago, the earth moved, the sea rose, and something irreversible happened.
This EP was recorded today — three improvisations, unrehearsed, unedited, approximately 49 minutes in total. Played as a form of quiet prayer.
The piano here is not acoustic but sampled — its imperfections intentional. Beneath each note, granular synthesis breathes and shifts, pulling the sound apart and reassembling it slowly, the way memory works. Dissonance appears without apology. Silence holds as much weight as sound.
The Sky of Prayer does not mourn loudly. It sits with something. It looks upward, without expecting an answer. For those who were lost. For those still carrying it.

‘Wearing Words’ by the talented musician Emily Wittbrodt is a quietly alluring work that blurs the line between chamber music and theatre, tinged with poetic elements. 今春はピアニスト古谷淳さんを擁したブッキングが続きます。3月に続き4月は第二弾。こちら美濃DiAngeloでも00年代から絶え間なく洗練された音楽性と開拓精神を提示し続けてくれるドラマー大村亘くんとの、渾身のピアノトリオです。ベース工藤さんはここでは初登場ですが、楽しみな限り！

古谷淳 ピアニスト/作曲家
山梨県甲斐市出身。高校より渡米、オハイオ州グレンオークハイスクールのビッグバンドのピアニストとしてアメリカ各地、カナダで演奏。カリフォルニアのオレンジコーストカレッジに進学後、ボストンのバークリー音楽院へ編入。在学中よりプロとしてボストン、ニューヨークを中心に音楽活動を始める。米国アーティスト・ビザ取得後はアメリカのみならず日本、カナダ、韓国でも演奏活動を行う。
2005年より活動拠点を日本に移す。演奏者としての独特なスタイル、作曲家としての感性に高い評価を得ている。自己のグループを始め数多くのユニット、バンドで活動する傍ら音楽教室を主宰。県内外にて多くの生徒を指導、後進の育成に努めている。
2009年ジャズレーベルD-MUSICAから1stアルバム「Exprimo」、2011年に2ndアルバム「Home Songs」をリリース。収録曲Homeは2014 USA Song Writing Competitionにてファイナリスト選出。2017年ソングエクスジャズ社よりリーダーバンドThe Otherside Quartetの1stアルバム「Southbound」をリリース。タイトル曲Southboundは2016 USA Song Writing Competitionにて2度目のファイナリスト選出となった。同年ショートフィルム『春待ちかぼちゃ』（五藤利弘監督）音楽担当。
2020年に全編ソロアルバム Piano Solo(Zir001)を初のプライベート盤としてリリース。
工藤精 ベーシスト
1973年北海道生まれ。両親の影響で、音楽が日常にある少年時代を過ごす。中学3年の時に友人の誘いでバンドを結成、エレキベースを手にする。当時のアイドルはビートルズとジャコ・パストリアス。弘前大学でジャズ研に入り、ジャズとウッドベースに出会う。1998年に広木光一グループに加入をきっかけに上京。日野皓正、鈴木勲、小野リサ、Orange Pekoe、植村花菜など、幅広いアーティストと共演。
現在は、ブルームーンカルテット、Mitch All Stars、松下美千代トリオなどのレギュラーをつとめる傍ら、数多くのセッションに参加して多忙な日々を送る。
大村亘 ドラマー/タブラ奏者
東京都生まれ。アメリカとオーストラリアで育つ。シドニー音大ジャズ科に進学しオーストラリアの若手の登竜門 Billy Hydes Drumcraft ドラムコンペにおいて優勝。SABIAN CYMBALとのスポンサー契約を結んだ。横浜JAZZ PROMENADE 2006,2008, SAPPORO INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL 2008,TOKYO JAZZ 2008,2009, NHK Session 2010~2013, NHK-BS エルムンドなどに出演。2015年には文化庁より新進芸術家海外研修員に選ばれる。2018年にニューヨーク録音されたアルバム『Benign Strangers』は同年米Downbeat誌のベストアルバムの1枚に選ばれる。国内では鈴木良雄、小沼ようすけ、中村真、佐藤浩一、西口明宏、松原慶史、永武幹子などのツアーやレコーディングに参加。これまでにアメリカ、オーストラリア、インド、香港、中国、台湾、韓国、ヨルダン、ルクセンブルグと幅広く活動を展開。毎年インドに出向きタブラ(北インドの伝統打楽器)を研鑽中。世界中の音楽家達と交流を深めながら、独創的な音楽創りを試み続けている。

I was recently in San Francisco to play a couple of gigs with my old friend Jim Campilongo @jimcampilongo6469 — a wonderful guitarist and canny teacher. While I was at his house for a rehearsal, we got to talking about using space in music. I thought it would be interesting to share here, so I recorded it.
