I need to get this book!

When you spend months failing to identify this weird little miniature-apple-looking fruit you keep finding in the dirt, far away from any tree that ought to be making apple-looking fruit….

…of course there’s a gall wasp involved 🤣

So I am working on the Lucky Maggot Ball charms, which are the product of gall fly larvae infesting goldenrod stems. But these are so darn cute, I want to make something out of them too even though I haven’t heard of any particular folklore around oak apple galls before. I guess I just need to hang out with one for a while and see what it has to say.

I am glad this is my last day of work for the week. Not that work has been hard this week but it has been busier then normal so I do feel a bit tired. Going to start doing some yoga stretches each morning so I can get back into that routine. Going to work on some magic work on my days off as well. I do need to clean some more and get my office space ready for some summer indoor crafting. Do not have to do anything with my plants except some watering and maybe tossing out one of my propagations that did not take. May try and see how I would do with a Ramadan fast for one day. 

I need to do a better job this year with my garden journal then I did last year. My garden took a beating last year due to some things that I did wrong. The summer here burned a lot of my vegetable garden. Some of the veggies that we use more often I did in pots but need to find a better place to keep them. I need to finish the garden cart I made so that I can move the plants around during the heat of the summer. Which I think will help some of the plants I have in pots grow. 

I am also starting to grow an indoor houseplant garden as well. I do need to get some new pots for my indoor plants so that I can start transplanting some of them when it starts to get warm out. I do need to start writing down all the plants I have bought the last two days so I know which ones will grow and which ones will not. I also need to start propagating some of the plants as they get bigger so that I can trade them for new plants. Maybe this can turn into a nice side hustle to make some extra money.

There are never enough bottles and jars!

All spring and summer I have been collecting flowers and herbs. They have been drying on various racks, screens and trays.

I ordered bottles and jars a few weeks back and just realized I didn’t get nearly enough!

So today I will be enjoying this overcast rainy day and ordering more!

These are dried blooms from spring and a little pine resin from last fall that finally got put away as well.

The dried flowers are Redbud, Heather, Wisteria and Foxglove.

A sad day in my garden 😭
A bunch of my herbs (and many other plants) were burnt by the sun and heat over the weekend.
The good news is that I’ll be replanting, starting fresh and being mindful to give them a little more love and attention 🤷🏼‍♀️

My favorite rose is blooming in full force. This is the Rosa ‘Eden’ rose is named after the French poet Pierre De Ronsard. Its a climbing rose and is slowly making it up the side of my front deck. This is the second year it has bloomed in full force and looking at it everyday brings my heart such joy.
Not much is currently blooming in my garden yet this year. We had a cold snap that resulted in many plants going dormant again. Nevertheless I know in a few short weeks my garden will be full of beautiful blossoms. I can’t wait to pick up some more plants when it is safer to do so.
Despite the lack of blooms, my rose is a shining star among the weeds. Like all roses, the Eden rose represent love, friendship, and devotion. Because its a climbing rose, it also represents strength, courage, perseverance, determination, and endurance. I think these are all traits we need during these unfamiliar times. May its blossoms warm your heart and soul and give you the courage to continue forging ahead.
