I am weak for male voice choirs. Symptom of being Welsh I’m afraid

The more observant amongst you will have noticed that today is Pi day!
Did you know that the abbreviation π was coined by a Welshman? Welsh mathematician William Jones first used the Greek letter to describe the ratio of circumference to radius in 1706, in his ‘Synopsis Palmariorum Matheseos’.

Cymblr - mae Emma'n chwylio am siaradwyr rhygl a dysgwyr safon canolig neu uwch i gymeryd rhan mewn darn o ymchwil cyflym iawn (10 munud), ar y we. Dwi wedi ei wneud o fy hyn a mae o'n hawdd iawn. Fedrwch chi helpu?
I won!
I did over 12 hours of Duolingo this week and I’m never doing this again 😅
I’m free 😅

And on the day of my 700th day streak too 🥰 what a day!

Today’s Celtic character of the day is Cadi Jones from Craith (Hidden) who is Welsh. She is from North Wales.
I swear I’m gonna post an update to one of my stories very soon (but which one? It’s a surprise 😊)
I’m just currently in the middle of a Duolingo battle with someone and I’ve been spending literally several hours per day trying to stay #1 in diamond league 😅😅😅
Two days left until I’m sane again hopefully lol.
(as a sidenote- I tried Duolingo chess just to see how many XP points it gave, and now I’m very interested in chess 😅)
Clywais i gân dau mis yn ôl pan roedd i weithio ar sioe a reodd e’n bop, ond anghofiais i i ysgrifennu’r enw o’r cân lawr i rhoi e yn fy rhestr chwarae i
Dwi’n wrth fy modd i ddweud bod i wedi ffindio e
Dau mis a pob rhestr chwarae gyda cerddoriaeth Cymraeg
Fucking did it

Today’s Celtic character of the day is DI Tutor Manx from the DI Tudor Manx book series by Dylan H. Jones who is Welsh. He is from Anglesey, Wales.
I’m finally in diamond league on Duolingo and it’s basically just me and this one person Daniel fighting for first place, playing cat and mouse everyday 😅
I hope Daniel realizes that I don’t work on Sundays and I’m fully prepared to spend the ENTIRE day doing Welsh lessons to get #1 😅😅😅
Once I win it and get the badge, I’ll never care about the leagues again, and I’ll be free 😅

Thanks, buyer! Much appreciated!

Damn good novel. I love the use of narrative voice, obviously with the Scots, but also how it changes in subtly perceptible ways between chapters in a way that really helps get you into the head of the characters. The scenes where Mark gets really out of it (like Billy’s funeral or the withdrawal sequence(s)) are very disorienting to read. Characterisation is really strong and everyone feels very fleshed out. Even Begbie, who is a genuinely frightening psychopath, gets his dues from an incredibly well done brief interaction with his father. Structurally, everyone loves shifting perspectives and non linear storytelling so yeah to that. Very effective visceral imageries (incredibly strong opening from Jean Claude Van Damme to digging opium suppositories out of a used lavatory) vis à vis addiction.
Very well written novel with some potentially unpleasant to read moments. Would recommend/10

Wishing my Welsh, Welsh speaking and Welsh learner friends a very Happy St David’s Day!
Tradition is important!
Lots of love

ST. DAVID’S DAY/DYDD GŴYL DEWI
Prof. Ulysses has allowed his assistants Ieuen and Ianto to have a little holiday from the laboratory so that they can celebrate their Welshness. Silas sees the pair donned in their Welsh hats and woolly clothes with a daffodil and a leek pinned to their lapels.
Mae’r Athro Ulysses wedi caniatáu i’w gynorthwywyr Ieuen ac Ianto gael ychydig o wyliau o’r labordy er mwyn iddyn nhw ddathlu eu Cymreictod. Mae Silas yn gweld y pâr yn gwisgo’u hetiau Cymreig a’u dillad gwlanog gyda chennin pedr a chennin wedi’u pinio i’w lapeli.
