How Weathertech Customizes Car Floor Mats to Make a Complete
Conversion
WeatherTech understands the inside of your car, which is why
sell over one type of car floor mat. But all too often we hear the seemingly
obvious question: what is the difference between All-weather Mats and Floor
Liners? WeatherTech
has taken great strides in the last few years to improve upon an already
outstanding product, the All Weather floor liner. All Weather floor liners are
made from a superior, award winning material that’s designed to last, keep
moisture away, prevent marking, and most importantly - Maintain their look for
a lifetime. All Weather mats come in a wide variety of colors, sizes,
thicknesses, designs, and materials to best meet your every need.
Weathertech All Weather Floor Liners are crafted with
advanced engineering and material that produce minimum friction for a smooth,
glideable surface, preventing fluid back flows and staining. The liners are
crafted using patented, bonded poly-urethane technology that creates a smooth
surface and back flow barrier to minimize messes and spills. The liners are
typically mark resistant and easy to clean. Some models have sculpted channels
that run the entire length of the car floor to maximize surface channel area,
helping to reduce messes and spills.
All Weather floor mats will help you protect your car floor
from all that a car can put on it, such as oil, grease, salt, dirt and the
inevitable wear and tear. Most vehicles that come with All Weather floor mats
will be factory standard, but if you prefer you can have the all weather floor
mats custom made to match your specific vehicle. Weathertech will typically
have an engineer in your installation department that can assist you in
selecting the proper mats for your make and model. They can also assist you in
removing the old Weathertech floor mats, removing the rubber gaskets, and
installing the new ones. Once the new floor mats are in place, you can expect
them to last longer and perform better than ever.
Laser Metaled Engineering is Weathertech’s latest
innovation. This process is utilized in all of their products and is believed
to be more durable than any other manufacturing process currently available.
During the manufacturing process, the company heats a specialized rubber mold
until it becomes malleable. When the mold is malleable, the engineer is able to
fine tune the dimensions and shape of the Custom Fit Weathertech car floor mats
to exactly match the precise dimensions of your vehicle’s underside.
Once the rubber is heated, the engineer uses a laser
measured abrasive and weatherproofing paste to gradually push the mold toward
the edges of the mold. Once the mold is at the edges, the engineers use a
specially designed retention systems to hold it in place permanently. All of
this is accomplished without the need for traditional tools or techniques. This
is how Weathertech improves upon the competition and creates a truly customized
fit for every vehicle manufactured by them.
Weathertech’s custom car floor mats are made using
high-density tri-extruded material which is much stronger than standard vinyl
or rubber. The mats also feature an advanced poly-urethane finish that is
guaranteed to resist oils and liquids for up to three years. Weathertech’s
liners are designed to resist wear and tear for several years and will remain
flat and free of holes or mildew after they have been installed. Some liners
even feature an anti-static agent that prevents electrostatic charge buildup on
the surface of the vehicle. This prevents the occurrence of
“fogging”, a condition where water from the engine seeps into the
floor mats.
