Most of them just kind of quietly… went. Like someone blowing on a dandelion clock, gentle as that. You do get used to it. You find out it’s the most normal thing in the world, like sex, or having a baby, or nursing a baby. It’s one of these fundamental human things, reminds you you’re part of nature. We forget that, you know.

Line 6 has ushered in a new age for digital amp modeling and multi-effects pedals by unveiling one of the biggest and most-anticipated gear drops of the past few years: the Helix Stadium collection. Introducing an entirely new modelling technology; a hugely requested high-resolution touchscreen; proxy amp, cab, and effect cloning; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth control; and much,…
Movie theaters, like legitimate theaters, used to have ushers to show patrons to their seats and keep order. Here, head usher Gino Monaco gives instructions to three of his ushers. Left to right are Gertrude Mooney, Alice Davenport, and Helen Adorn, at the Astor Theater, March 3, 1948.
A young man who has improbably escaped death twice reveals his secret in a spine-tingling short story by New York Times bestselling author Joe Hill. Martin Lorensen is a twenty-three-year-old counselor for disturbed teenagers. He’s bright, compassionate, attractive, and outgoing. He’s also—and this is the most interesting thing—not dead. Martin has improbably survived not one but two deadly…
With the penultimate episode of Andor, Tony Gilroy solidifies the series as the gold standard for Star Wars moving forward. Few shows are able to continue to climb higher and higher with each new episode, outshining themselves time and time again, and even fewer are able to accomplish what this series has in its first season. With Episode 11, the stakes soar to new heights as all the moving…
Ushers have adapted their services to meet COVID protocols. As a result, a reduced number of ushers are needed at 10:15am service. Although the number of active ushers has declined, the team continues to meet the needs of the congregation. Recruiting and training new ushers has been challenging because of the pandemic.
As COVID restrictions are lifted, we will strive to recruit and train new ushers representing a broader profile of our parish.
We are in need of more ushers for the 8:00 am service and for the Holy Week and Christmas services. Please prayerful consider helping in this important ministry.
The return to inside worship this spring has been a joyful event for our entire congregation. And Sunday, May 30, has added another hopeful milestone with the opportunity for those who are fully vaccinated to worship without masks for the first time. Only the removal of a few more restrictions remains before we are back to our pre-covid Sunday worship services.
In the meantime, your ushers of Saint James’ have been adapting to this transitional period. Fortunately, the demands have been light with only two ushers required for each service. We are grateful for the ushers who have stepped up to serve during this period, with special thanks to Zach Borgstrom’s constant assistance in welcoming parishioners to all our services.
With the summer season before us, this reduced level of service requirement is likely to remain. However, this coming September holds great anticipation for our parish with the increasing likelihood of returning to full worship services and most if not all of our ministries returning to normal activities. With this hopeful anticipation comes the need and opportunity to increase our individual participation in the mission and ministries of our parish. Make a decision now to make a joyful commitment of your time and energy to one of our ministries for the coming expansion of activities at Saint James’, and please include joining our team of ushers in your deliberations. It is a meaningful way to support our worship. For more information about becoming an usher, please let Nancy Kincheloe (admin@saintjamewarrenton.org) know of your willingness to serve at our parish office.
This is a shout out of appreciation to Joe Errera and Steve Pearson for their constant service this summer for the outdoor services hosted by Jim and Sally Timberlake and Scott and Helen Christian. Jim and Scott have been helpful hosts in their direction of usher duties for us, which has been primarily directing parking and distanced seating for our Sunday services.
When no ushers were available for the August 23 rd service, we can thank Dana MacKimmie and Wayne Eastham for kindly responding to the call for coverage. In the meantime, we look forward to the Sunday when normal usher functions resume.
WASHINGTON — The war in Ukraine has prompted the biggest rethinking of American foreign policy since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, infusing the United States with a new sense of mission and changing its strategic calculus with allies and adversaries alike. The Russian invasion has bonded America to Europe more tightly than at any time since the Cold War and deepened U.S. ties with Asian allies,…
BERLIN: German voters are choosing a replacement parliament in an election which will determine who succeeds Chancellor Angela Merkel after her 16 years at the helm of Europe’s biggest economy.
Polls point to a really close race Sunday between Merkel’s center-right Union bloc, with state governor Armin Laschet running for chancellor, and therefore the center-left Social Democrats, for whom outgoing minister of finance and administrator Olaf Scholz is seeking the highest job.
Dogecoin is on the verge of testing critical support as it struggles to generate any bullish momentum. It would appear as if Elon Musk’s recent comments surrounding Bitcoin continue to dog the coin. MicroStrategy announced it was planning to buy more Bitcoin, and its shares have jumped. Yet Elon Musk’s Tesla and Dogecoin, which he heavily promotes, continue to slide. The paradox has not gone…
