okay but why did this have to happen on MY birthday???
the thing is. given how much everyone bitches about how awful it is to be the op of a post with thousands of notes. i can kind of see what they thought they were doing with this one
dear apps i use daily, please stop moving around the buttons, my muscle memory is displeased.
(this post was prompted by my sobriety tracking app but obviously applies to tumblr as well)
I actually find the “new” (I’ve had it for quite a while now) UI change pretty nice. It’s very convenient.
Sure, not being able to see the collective notes is a little sad, but nothing that bad.
I feel like a lot of people just need to give time for the change to settle in.

Oooo the web thing! We’re getting reblog map on app yall im totally not coping
Another round of downgrades updates no one asked for…
Added borders and rounded edges to everything??? Making any divider that has any transparency or isn’t just a solid rectangle basically useless. Thanks.
Tumblr said fuck your formatting I guess.
They finally took off the content warning for the ombre red divider I use just in time for this dumb update
on todays episode of “stupid tumblr ui changes nobody cares about” we have: rounded corners for images!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!
Ever since the UI change, I wondered how long before tumblr’s reblogging traditions start crumbling. In any given design, you can rest assured that whatever you make simple will be incentivized and become the dominant form of interaction. Sure enough, I look at my dash tonight and most of the posts post-change have like. One reply. One tagged reblog. Many many likes.
They are hollowing out tumblr entirely to follow the leader. Tumblr, which has the least path to become the everythingapp that every social media company desperately craves, is going to kill off tagging culture. It’s not even advertiser compliance or any other shit, they just believe in copying someone else more than they believe in their own site’s merits.
(sigh) I really am just, gonna have to make a self-hosted blog eventually. I cannot keep churning through apps, I’m tired.
