So just a little art tip I learned: most people’s irises aren’t completely visible unless they’re like- really surprised

I used to always draw the iris and pupil too small because I defaulted to my own eye proportions.

I’m am widening my eyes in this picture but I think you get the idea

My proportions are apparently not the average, remember that thinner eyes still have the same sized irises. I know this sounds obvious but it’s the kind of thing you don’t normally think about.

My mom has sporadically, several times throughout my life, blown up about when I get too obsessed with something. Pokemon, animation, Kaiba/YGO, etc. (Thus hiding the Tangled.)

Most recently, though still over a year ago, she was upset that I “cleaned my closet out” instead of applying to studios as soon as I graduated. I hadn’t even cleaned my closet out; I merely culled my drawer of jeans for what was too big for me. I did have to then take out old smaller pairs, but they had already been neatly packed away for years, easily accessible, albeit in the closet. I apologized for losing weight & needing to switch them out, as well as apologized for coming to ask if she wanted the old pairs. …she somewhat apologized for being wrong.

Anyway…

1 time…

We were living in mine & Hunny’s 1st apartment alone, our 2nd together. She came to visit me, while he happened to be out, either at work or class still, I forget. I do know we were already engaged.

THAT apartment, man, we kept it so clean, it was amazing.

I made us lunch & cleaned up a bit. I said something about either still having enough for when he got home, or something about dinner, something about cleaning up, maybe all of that, I forget.

Well…

She got mad.

“You’re just playing house!

You shouldn’t be taking care of him!”

I argued back.

He takes care of me, too! He’s just not home right now! Of course I’m gonna clean my own kitchen when I’m the one here!? Ya want me to NOT CLEAN where I live???

All these years, I thought she made it up herself, telling me that she didn’t want me doing anything like an adult, like I should make him do everything, we shouldn’t share, I shouldn’t clean anything cuz I didn’t graduate on time yet or have a job yet. She wouldn’t recognize the engagement, so long as I was taking care of my home like an adult. …no cleaning, in a “luxury” roach & mice infested building?

& that’s really fucked with my ability to keep anything clean like I did back then, & especially since moving back here.

I thought she didn’t want me using all the hot water or vacuuming & blowing a fuse or being loud, or managing my time poorly.

I had no idea it meant ‘You’re not committed to him, & he doesn’t love you or want a future with you.’ 🥺
