A Hardy Tickseed

A Hardy TickseedALT

Tickseed, probably the Coreopsis grandiflora ‘Heliot’, taken against the light streaming in through the glassed facade of the conservatory. Because of the bright backdrop, the exposure was biased a stop brighter so that the flowers might be more visible.

Coreopsis feeling plain, lanced and whorled. But she’s hoping to get to the flower ballroom dance later as she hears that the prince is planning to pick a bouquet for his bedroom chambers. I’m not sure Coreopsis understands what might be in store for her.

Tickseed is ticked off today and not happy about garden market happenings. The Bears are shorting the market and causing all the stock flowers to go down.

ough. the curse of the selfshipper strikes again. this time it’s Ford Pines.

funny enough, it’s also kind of giving me kin euphoria. if he can fall in love with a damn triangle he can fall in love with a Ghoul. and he would.

Fleabane and tickseed (aka coreopsis)

Photo of a messy bunch of flower stalks, with mostly small flowers with many thin, white petals and a yellow center, as well as a few slightly-larger flowers with a dozen or so yellowish petals with reddish-purple coloration near the center.ALT

Bonus: anole in the raspberries

Photo of a small green lizard with a long tail perched on a slightly darker green leaf with serrated edges. The lizard has a white underside and a dark eye with an aqua ring around it, and its ribs are visible in its midsection.ALT

The fleabane is a native daisy-family flower (often considered a weed). The plains coreopsis (tickseed) we saw blooming on the hillside where the landscaping company dumped what it brought back from job sites, and we dug up a few stalks and planted them in the garden (they do not transplant well, but they seed fruitfully and now are everywhere in the backyard!); the birds love them, especially the finches.

As I mentioned the other day, the raspberry plants were a gift from a friend. The anole is my favorite lizard.
