I love yet hate being a percussionist because why do I have to wake up at 6 am on a Saturday to get to a school at 8:00 and perform at 8:55 then proceed to do nothing all day while waiting for awards at 6 🥰🥰
say hi to evil Mike!!!!!!!

Dr. Donald Palmire & SFC DJ Palmire performed as a euphonium/percussion duo at The U.S. Army Band 2026 Tuba-Euphonium Workshop with music by Mike Neumeyer, Astor Piazzolla, Marin Marais, and Jorge Strunz & Ardeshir Farah. #Euphonium #Percussion #Duo #ArmyMusic #TEW2026 #TEW #Music
Yes these are all nicknames. I sure hope that anyone from the rest of the band doesn’t see this and recognize me but like… what were you doing at the devils sacrament???

modern composers that are also percussionists: do a backflip and then play the timpani with your teeth. take off your pants and put them on the gong, which is on top of a tower in mexico city. rest for 900 measures. take the G key off of the vibraphone and rub it against your feet and then put the tambourine in your mouth. Huh? You’re saying this is odd? No This is modern music. Get with the times

For years, my school has had a color guard, until the last two seasons. While I was never a member of the group myself, I always wished I could’ve been. The music, the movements, the facials, the flags, they all captivate me, particularly from the professional and more experienced groups. The way everyone moves as one, and with such intention. As part of the winter percussion group, I still get to watch guards nearly every weekend in the winter. When the season ends, I know I’m going to miss seeing the guards the most.
The feeling when you’ve been playing drums for so long that your skin peels off…..
This is what I get for jamming for 3 hours straight with no breaks
My paws HURT
It was so fun tho
Guys I’m ’bout to go to solo and ensemble for my percussion ensemble where we play in front of a judge and they judge us, I’m excited but so very nervous
The song we’re playing is really nice and I really enjoy it

It was 20 years ago today: Wilco’s own Glenn Kotche’s solo album Mobile was released on Nonesuch. He uses a wide range of percussive instruments—vibraphone, kalimba, mbira, drum kit, and more—on this solo set, with inspirations ranging from mobile sculpture, composer Steve Reich, the Ramayana, Wilco drum beats, the Nonesuch Explorer series, and percussionists Tony Allen and Ed Blackwell. MOJO calls it “ambitious, accessible, and beautifully played.” You can hear it here.
