Bob Eggleton’s cover for the SRS Cinema Blu-ray release of Brush of the God, which just opened preorders. The kaiju flicks SRS acquires tend towards the bad, but this is arguably their best to date (up there with The Whale God).

I’ve suspected for a while that the Monsterverse Godzilla is contractually forbidden from setting foot in Japan (outside of noncanonical video games), so as to keep the Legendary and Toho series distinct. He does appear in Japanese waters in Godzilla: Awakening and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, but that seems to be as far as he can go. Legendary found another loophole in Godzilla: Aftershock, where the Godzilla-like Dagon collapses onto the Japanese shore following his battle with MUTO Prime.
This apparent policy has kept Titan mayhem in Japan to a minimum throughout the Monsterverse, with only the male MUTO and (the largely unseen) Yamato no Orochi attacking the country. But the teaser for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 shows what appears to be another incursion… or perhaps it’ll take us far enough down the timeline to show Orochi in action.
