The fight for more equality, less oppression, a better world for all… it is an eternal fight.
Even small improvements are due to generations of struggle.
The world we fight for is based on cooperation and coordination and collaboration, rather than extraction and collection and competition. There will need to be systemic change before that world can be. Generations of paradigm shifting and uncolonizing and transitioning between what was and what could be.
We will not live to see the world that we fight for.
We must raise the next generations to continue the fight. To understand what they are fighting for, what they are fighting against, and why. We must give them the tools to identify the fascism and bigotry that hides in plain sight, and to expose the stuff that hides behind closed doors.
Practice and teach critical thinking. Connect to or build local systems of mutual aid. Within your limited power, start shaping your portion of the world into one that is safer and more welcoming.
The road to a better world for all is a never-ending journey. This is our part of it.
Help those who stumble and fall, fight those who want to go backward, protect each other from dangers of the route we found ourselves on, and seek out a better route and a better destination. And raise the next generations to shape the endless path and protect each other, as best they can, when we are gone.
Cultural shifts take time. Cultural shifts don’t end. Be purposeful in your part.
