A surprise gift!
I have wanted this pattern for years but could never afford it.
There is a sha kimono like this with a different pattern from gofukuyasan, which looks ghostly when worn, but I think I’ll wear this obi far more. I think if I find the kimono, especially the usumono version, I might not ever wear it because it’s *too* lovely. Anxiety-inducing beautiful. I’m not interested in owning anything that makes me anxious to wear anymore. I’ll wear this obi much more.
The pattern is based off an ukiyo-e of Gashadokuro by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, titled 相馬の古内裏 (Souma no Furu-dairi.) Published in 1844.
It is also known as “Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre,” but I didn’t know that title until tonight. I was confused at the title on Etsy, like is it just ‘witchy?’ Like a popular keyword? That’s an odd choice, right…? But it’s about the alternative title.

I have a new man in my life 🥰 Meet Obi, short for Obi-Wan Kenobi 😅
He’s a rescue pup who was found running the streets of Phoenix. He was trapped, vaccinated, neutered, and brought to a Tucson rescue, and that’s where I came in 😍
I’ll never understand how puppy mills, retail pet shops and breeders still exist when so many animals are waiting for homes. Shelters are overflowing, animal control is stretched thin, and so many sweet pets are euthanized simply because there isn’t enough space or adopters. It’s heartbreaking 💔
Obi is the cutest little guy with a squeaky bark. I’m not sure if it’s from an old street injury, but he’s safe now, loved, and exactly where he’s meant to be.
Saving one dog won’t change the world, but for that one dog, the world changes forever 🐾

Been wanting to get into cosplay for a while, but I’ve always been super intimidated by the idea of it, and I’ve never really had anywhere to wear it to even if I did make one. But it’s a new year, and I’m tired of being scared of trying fun things, so I’m gonna give it a go.
A lot of the tips I saw recommended someone with an outfit where you could buy different pieces and alter them as needed, so it wasn’t fully custom, and then it would be a little bit less intimidating and a bit more beginner friendly. But the character also has to be someone I actually *want* to cosplay, not just someone simple for the sake of simplicity.
Well. After some consideration, I finally landed on one character I think fits the bill about as well as I could hope for at the moment:

I *think* it should be doable. There’s tons of pictures of Obi out there for references, and all of the main pieces of his outfit are things I could buy/thrift and make tweaks/add detailing to as needed. And, as a bonus, I could reuse parts of the cosplay for everyday wear, since it’s nothing too abnormal :)
Hopefully I’m not just gaslighting myself here and this will actually go okay 😅 Time will tell!
