@dancingsorrow asked me for a post of my favorite stationery and I rambled in the replies until I realized the word “post” was specifically used. So this is just copy and pasted from those replies lmao (I did tack on an art paper section I didn’t mention in the initial replies)

Notebooks: Apica. Apica Apica Apica. I use the gridded Apica Premium C.D notebooks as my diary now and I use the regular Apica C.D notebooks for misc things and even art journals (the standard only comes in lines tho, but the paper is so good for a lot of media that I don’t care). I’ve used a variety of gel pens, pigmented fountain pens, water-based markers, pigment ink brush pens, colored pencils, graphite pencils, and even a Posca brush pen in those things and it takes it all beautifully. I haven’t tried alcohol markers and Sharpies in it yet, and I don’t think it’ll hold up to watercolor, but it’s so versatile with everything mentioned, even when layered.

An A5 standard C.D. is about 4 dollars on JetPens, the Premium is quite a bit more expensive, twelve dollars for an A6. The standard C.D. is a single folio/signature folded in a saddle stitch, the Premium is multiple folios sewn more complexly. If you want a something that’ll hold up more and think you’ll be writing in it a lot and fill it up, def splurge on the Premium. If you just want a misc notebook, you can get the regular in smaller or larger sizes with decent pricing even in the larger

Having recently seen a How It’s Made-style video about the Life Noble, I’m curious to try it but they’re much more expensive than even the Premium C.D. I haven’t tried Kokuyo Campus yet for myself, but I got Kokuyo binder paper for Paramour who has texture issues with most people and they adore it (tho they like the Maruman paper I also got them just slightly more). Kokuyo Campus is highly recommended for school use, so I’m curious to try it before school starts in fall.

Everything else under the cut. I love stationery so like. Yeah

My favorite daily pen is the Uniball Signo 207 in an Ultra Micro (.38) nib, but they don’t make refills for the UM nibs so I have to buy a new pen each time which i don’t like. I think once I use up all my current batch I’m going to refill them with Zebra Sarasa .3 nibs since JP says they’re compatible. My current fountain pen is an Ultra Fine niib Platinum Preppy, it was the smallest nib I could find and doesn’t get in my way when I write in my normal teeny tiny cursive. It’s a great starter FP and I use the Platinum carbon ink cartridges because I’m all about that archiveability. If/when it fails (the Preppy has a habit of cracking its plastic body after a while, which is why I haven’t bothered converting it from plastic cartridges to loose bottled ink in its body), I’m gonna upgrade to the Platinum Prefounte.

I don’t like ballpoint pens much even tho I appreciate their history, but I find that the pressure needed to lay down steady ink hurts my wrists and fingers. But I do have two Uni Jetstreams because you would NOT know they weren’t gel ink with how smooth and gentle they are. The JS I put in my bag is a multi pen with a black ink, red ink, blue ink, green ink, and pencil lead.

I’m looking for my dream mechanical pencil. For YEARS I’ve been using an OG Pentel Click Twis-Erase, with the side clicker, but it doesn’t fit very well in the binder I use for my commonplace book, it’s too snug in the holder and I kept accidentally disassembling it and spilling the lead in the middle when trying to get it out of the pocket. I did buy an on-sale Pentel GraphGear 500 (I wanted the 1000, but the 500 on sale was too good to pass up since the store didn’t have the 1000), but I HATE the eraser so much, and the 1000 is the same way so I’m no longer interested in it. Gonna try the Staedtler Mars Micro pencil.

Wood pencils I use exclusively for art, it takes too much pressure to lay down the thicker lead when writing and when it gets dull it smudges my small writing. For art I LOVE the Mitsubishi Hi-Uni pencils and am slowly replacing my Brite Crown art pencils with the H-Us. I’ve never used either the OG Blackwing or the newer pencils with that name, but I’ve seen the H-U compared to the wonders of the old BW and if that’s the case I can see why BW used to be such a classic

And then I really love the Sakura Sumo erasers, they’re better at erasing Prisma Col-erase pencils than the default erasers and it erases regular pencils super cleanly. Have one for home and on the go.

If you’re interested in Alcohol markers, the Copics have lost their throne as new contenders have entered the market. People love Ohuhus and those are now refillable, but I use the Blick Studio markers myself.

Oh, and art paper. I highly recommend the Canson XL line, especially the mixed media for general art and the XL Smooth Bristol specifically for alcohol markers. The Mixed Media is a great value for the amount of paper you get, the Bristol books have less but it’s still within affordability. For watercolors I prefer the Canson Montval. However, when it comes to my primary sketchbook, the crown goes to good ol’ Strathmore with their 500 mixed media line. The Canson XL was perfectly fine and I was content with knowing nothing else, but now I can never go back.

who’s to say what happened 𐔌՞ . .՞𐦯

okay but actually, it’s been really fun getting to experience a show i knew so truly next to nothing about before. not to mention a show that is intended to be watched with full attention and not “second screen friendly” —which many modern shows are intended to be— and that is not afraid to be a show, because it trusts you to have a brain enough to understand the landscape painting backdrop and styrofoam rocks are representative and that their lack of realness does not detract from the telling of the story.

btw if you want to know how nothing i knew, i knew there was a character called spock that does a hand thing people care about. he has ears? and bangs maybe? didn’t know anything about him other than that though!

and another thing!! i’m only currently at episode 25 of season 1, because my partner is the one streaming it to me and they work full time and because of time zones get home at 11pm my time. this notebook was a couple pages into this section around the 5 episode mark though.

Lined

Don’t give me lined,

I write with my thoughts

And lines aren’t needed,

Aren’t fitted for my words.

Maybe give me lined,

Give me form for distraction,

Give me guides for doodles,

Or structure for cross stitch patterns.

Don’t force lines forth

I’ll choose when it’s wanted:

That’s the ending clue.

face value

I see a lot of things at face value unfortunately, nothing truly hits me deep in my core till it’s a Sunday night and I’m alone. Feeling more alone than I ever have, living in one of the busiest and most populated cities in the world, but yet finding myself feeling like character in the sims, but not a character someone made just a background one.

Unfortunately it’s in these moments that I feel alone that I have to deal with feelings I try to avoid. I see a lot of things at face value, even myself at times. I forget how old I am and how it is normal to not have things figured out. I forget to have fun and explore.

There’s nothing standing between me and exploring the city I live in, besides the fare prices but other than that nothing. I think growing up in a small town made me so used to not having anything to do so I just stayed home, but because I was never truly alone.

Now I am, but I sometimes subconsciously choose to be alone. Making friends is hard, I feel like again growing up in a small town it’s easier because you and another person most likely know each other from some sort of connection, whether it’s through a friend of a friend, or just social media, you’re in a close enough proximity to have heard of one another. But here, it’s all face value.

No one knows you, no one has heard of you, no one sees you at times.

My biggest dream and my worst nightmare.

I see a lot of things at face value. But, I want to find out what is below, I want to learn to put myself out there.

No more face value.
