It was the first time in months Jack was allowed to sleep in. He’d stayed up late with Natasha, discussing the wrap of the show, the upcoming audition, and some houses he’d vaguely been looking at with the help of a family friend who was a realtor. The decision to live in a house outside London was put on hold for a better idea - a house just outside of New York City, where his brother and childhood friend Toby could live when he wasn’t there. 

He wasn’t sure when he fell asleep, but the first thing he noticed upon waking up was the half-finished beer on the bedside table. The room was awash in a dim grayish blue light, the sun just starting to rise. At first he thought it was just instinct to wake up this early after weeks and weeks of odd hours, but just as his eyes started to flutter shut again, he heard a repeat of the noise that initially woke him. It was the distinct sound of Natasha’s creaky cupboards opening and closing.

Assuming that Natasha might just be getting a glass of water, Jack rolled back over and snuggled a little deeper into the sheets. Taking a deep breath, he relaxed all the muscles in his body. A second later they tensed when he realized there were voices on the other side of the bedroom door. One was Natasha’s - quiet, confused, and scared. The other was her mother’s - not quiet at all, nervous, and terrified. Just hearing the way Ms. Laris instructed her daughter to hurry made Jack sit up bolt upright.

“Mama, why can’t we wait until later in the morning?” Natasha asked. “What’s going on with Titka Kateryna?” It was her aunt who lived in Ireland now. Natasha and Jack talked just the night before about going up to visit her for a long weekend once his audition for the Harry Potter prequel was over. “Did something happen?”

“She’s…she’s…” Ms. Laris sounded distracted, and the cupboards kept opening and closing even though it sounded like nothing was being taken out. 

“Mama.”

“He’s back, Natasha, he’s back.”

The language shifted rapidly, and Jack was wildly irritated that he couldn’t listen to them. He pulled off the sheets but froze again when he heard the name Fedir among the slew of incomprehensible syllables. It was Natasha’s father’s name. She’d only spoken about him once, when she and Jack first dated. It was before he met her mother and aunt for lunch one day. Kateryna was her father’s sister, but even she’d hated the man. He wasn’t a drunk and didn’t dabble in drugs - he was inherently cruel. He was abusive to her mother and her aunt, and connected with people both women were terrified of. He was too stupid to be anything more than a kneecap breaker and human shield for the people he worked for, but that didn’t make the women any less scared. When Ms. Laris figured out she was pregnant, the women put rat poisoning into Fedir’s food and escaped when he started to react to it. They found out years later, through a distant relative, that he’d recovered easily but found a new wife a year later.

Natasha only told him all the details once, but they’d stuck in his head ever since. It was the reason she did what she did, why she tried to give women the help they needed to get out of abusive relationships. Natasha always believed her father would never come back, at least that’s what Jack had gathered.

Looking around the room now as the conversation he couldn’t follow continued at an increasingly faster pace, he realized just how much he’d already slept through. Every drawer in Natasha’s bureau was open with things obviously pulled out in a rush. Her closet was missing several items of clothing, and the duffel bag that was always on the shelf at the top. The glass of water she’d already had by her bedside table was completely knocked over. Jack became transfixed on the droplets not yet soaked into the carpet, his mind numb as he tried to register what was happening.  She’d packed…her mother was scared…

The conversation stopped abruptly. The way the language was spoken, he couldn’t tell if they’d just cut themselves off suddenly or if there’d been a real close to the exchange. Either way, a decision had been made. Jack didn’t even hear the door open, he just heard it click shut. Before he could unravel himself from the sheets and get to the bedroom door, the lock was already shifted into place. Out in the kitchen, he found a mess of food and plates and utensils and toiletries all over the floor in the living room. It was like a tornado had torn through Natasha’s normally impeccably clean apartment.

A cab had apparently been waiting outside already, and from the living room he watched as Natasha’s mother practically shoved her into the backseat. She didn’t bother to put the suitcases in the trunk, just shoved them in the back with her and her daughter. Jack tried to open the latch on the window but his fingers kept slipping and the cab was around the corner before he gave up. He rushed to the door, remembering only after he had his hand on the handle that he wasn’t clothed at all. 

For some time he stood there, gripping the doorknob so hard his knuckles were stark white. He didn’t know what to do, didn’t know what to think. He was infuriated and and scared and upset and understanding and torn apart all at once. He’d just gotten Natasha back, and now because of forces out of their hands, he had no idea what to do or who to talk to in order to convince her that she was safe in London. They’d get private security for her and her mother, and call the cops the second her father so much as showed his face. He understood why she and her mother were scared, but he didn’t understand why something couldn’t be done for them. Natasha made her living proving to women that they could be helped and they could be kept safe - why couldn’t she convince her mother of this?

Back in the bedroom, his alarm he’d forgotten to delete from his phone started to go off. His palm was covered in sweat and slipped right off the doorknob once he slacked his grip. Walking almost robotically, Jack made his way back to the bedroom and turned his phone off. He sat down on the bed with his phone held loosely in his hand. His gaze was transfixed on the wall, and though ideas started to come forward more easily about what he could do to help Natasha and her mother, he had a chilling sense that nothing someone like him thought of would work.

Okay I finally watched the whole episode and Inreally think Cass took the Moonstone to protect Rapunzel since that was her main concern the whole episode and she never explictly said that “be careful who you trust” was about herself

PKK terrorist ‘neutralized’ in SE Turkey

At least one PKK terrorist was “neutralized” in

Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir Province, the

governor’s office said on Wednesday.

Turkish authorites often use the word “neutralized”

in their statements to imply the territories in question

Provincial gendarmerie forces carried out a counter -
